Tax Exempt Car Tabs at Indian Casino's

Seems we have a few ignorant people here on this thread. If anyone wishes to educate themselves so they can speak in an intelligent manner on the subject, study the Federal regulations and guidelines which govern Indian casinos. They are more heavily regulated than any other casinos in the country. There are also regulations as to what the revenue these casinos generate can be used for. Many Tribes contract with big name companies to manage their casinos for them. For a lot of tribes this is the only way to get started as the start-up cost are immense and these companies will loan them the money to do so.
Many Tribes have members who learn the business from the ground up and eventually move into management positions. This gives the Tribes the option of not renewing their management contracts with the big companies and taking over management of their casinos themselves. There are a number of Tribes who have done just that and are doing quite well.

Some reading on how the Feds manage money for the tribes. Lots of other reading out there. http://www.allgov.com/Agency/O...erican_Indians__OST_

Doesn't seem like the government does any better for the Indians than they do for anyone else.

My "retirement" job in LE is for a tribal police department. I patrol a river and adjacent lands and keep trespassers off. From time to time I arrest someone (indian or otherwise) and they go to the relevant court. I get along with both sides, and I remember who the best fighters in VN that I found myself with-thats right native americans. Many had more guts than brains IMHO, but as fighters they got my vote. I even found some in the 1/7 Cav-Custers old outfit. When I landed to pick WIA/KIA, I could always count on them (and many others) for protective fire even if it exposed them.
I will always remember a member of the Seminole tribe I picked up-he had his left arm gone below the elbow, he fired his M16 till it was empty, then thumb cocked his 45 and fired it till it was dry, me and my crew all signed for him to get a Silver Star, never heard what happened though.
Yeah I have met a bunch of AH indians, but the ones I have made friends with are friends for life-mine or theirs.

Truckemup97;
Don't see whee our opinions are that different. Get the special status out of the equation and Indians, like Swedes and Brits can get along with being Americans. My complaint is the special status that, I believe, is the reason the Indians have failed to fully integrate into American society. I don't blame the Indians, I blame the racist attitudes that separated them in the first place and the continuing prejudices that suggest that Indians can't be fully free and equal Americans.

If you do a little study on the Indidan tribes history in North America you will find that many of the tribes were more than willing to increase their holdings in hunting grounds, women, children, horses, etc by simply raiding smaller or weaker tribes and stealing what they had. Then along came the white man and did the same thing only more effectively.

There is no question that the 19th century American government did many things wrong but that does not mean we should keep doing things wrong now! If we truly want a society that is free of discrimination then we should always have the highest priority for keeping all citizens equal in the eyes of the government. This means "no special privleges" for any race, color, etc - you get the meaning.

Another thought - Absolutely everything the government does should come with an expiration date - the only exception to this would be the Constitution of the United States. If it is to last forever, it needs to go through the same approval process as an amendment.
