TCM Powder experience

I have a couple of pounds of TCM coming. I am going to use it for my higher power 45 Colt and 357. Anyone use it for something other? I see that Accurate has reload data for 4 pistol caliber cartridges. What luck have you had?

I'm not familiar with TCM, but have used AA-2, AA-5, AA-7 and AA-9 in loading handgun cartridges.

Accurate TCM load data is for 45 Colt high pressure loads typically used only in Ruger Blackhawk, Freedom Arms, or Thompson Center.

I’ve only used it in .22TCM, but I have seen load data for several other cartridges.

So I got the powder yesterday. Looking forward to see what it will do in 45 Colt. UPS just dropped the box on my porch. HUH, what the heck. I thought that they needed a signature for powder. Says explosive right on the outside of the box. Last thing I need is some porch pirate grabbing that. Anyway, moving right along.

So I have loaded both 45 Colt and 357 with TCM. Still haven't taken the 45 out yet. The 357 on the other hand, WOW. Lovin it. I did this at 7 yards standing with 2 hand grip. 5 rounds.



Recoil is manageable. Gun and ammo did all the work, I am just the jerk behind the trigger as they say. This was with 12 gr TCM pushing a 158gr Hornady XTP. Going to have to experiment a little more but, already happy with what I have.

I've never heard of this powder but just looked it up on the Hodgdon burn rate chart. Looks like it's very close to #2400. I'd be curious to know how the accuracy and velocity is in comparison with #2400. Anyone used TCM with cast bullets in the 357 or .44 Magnums?
