Tell a story of your personal Performance Center epiphany

Let's bump an old thread see if there are any new TRUE PC enthusiasts out there!?!?

My love started with a Shorty. 40 and a total of 4 more following lol.

I've since expanded my horizon when happening across a 945 at a somewhat local show at one heck of a price, brought it home and was floored at the accuracy I was able to achieve from it....

I now own some of the finest Guns the PC ever put out and some of the rarest... I haven't ventured into the "oddest" yet (stocking dealer guns).

It's a rather shame something like the true PC doesn't exist any more....

Bump for a reboot!

Scratch that, 6 Shorty.40s lol

I have less than zero experience with PC revolvers! I've never even had one in my hands.

Likewise. I got burned by the cylinder gap gas early on and never got into revolvers although I have bought and sold a few.

My interest was semi-autos, especially PC models in collectible condition. Of the 47 that I have owned at one time or another, I have only shot one that was slightly used, a 945 compact. I qualified with it but didn't want a single action involved with my duty and SD activities. I liked it for what is was but sold it.

I keep getting questioned why I keep buying while I am supposed to be selling down my collection. The answer is simple, because one was available and all of the planets lined up when I saw it!:D

I hear you Redcardinal , the 945 compact just didn't do it for me . I keep adding to my PC collection , thanks to another member I consider a friend . I traded into a 4006PC recently , have to say it's an awesome 40cal even w/o adjustable . I think part is due to the Barstools barrel , buy I really enjoy shooting it . Now I need to look for a Shorty40 . In truth , any PC is a joy to own and shoot , but it stinks when you look at one of your nib's and know you can't shoot and enjoy that experience .

I am not actively looking for any P/C semi-autos to purchase. Dont shoot more than 2 or 3 of the ones I have. That being said I would not turn down a really good deal on one if it was a model I had mags for. I attend alot of the big and small gunshows here in north TX. I have yet to see a single P/C 3rd gen type semi-auto for sale, at any price. I saw here on the forum that someone who knew an employee of Cabellas FTW was able to get a couple , at a good price, but thats it. Still when I let people shoot my 5" PPC or IDPA models, and especially the shorty 9, they are shocked at the accuracy.
Minus the 9Recon (to a good friend), 4566 melonite, and newer 41, probably a few more as the years go by.

A side benefit of collecting PC pistols is the great people you meet. For example, Steve (Grinder1) and Bill (wlp64) are good friends that I became acquainted with through the forum. Not only buying, selling or trading but a great source of information.

Its kinda like putting up a child for adoption, you have to be sure they will provide the proper love and care.:)

Calreb , how does that 5in DPA model shoot ? I have both a 4 and 5in model , nib and have wondered about it . I have read letters stating there were only 17 made , so no matter how much I'm tempted it's going to stay that way . Is the Shorty9 comparable to the 9Recon ? Again , mine is nib so all I can do is ask about it .......

Not a factory PC gun, but it went through the PC Shop.

My 686-3 Classic Hunter was sent through the PC Shop for some work.

I have 2 PC's left. JM V8 .357 & .45 Shield PC.
I am waiting for another special one to cross my path thou.
Sold my .44 mag here due to arthritis

As most of the PC gun prices are in the upper stratosphere now and my attraction for them hasn't declined, I've been considereing narrowing my focus to just my S&W & Marlin collecting. most likely going to try to turn some of my other brand pistols to replenish the available funding and create some room in the gun safes.

It's been six years since I opened this discussion. Who's got stories to add? Lots of 945 talk in the 3rd Gen peak thread, let's hear why you fell in love with true Performance Center semiautomatic pistols!

Well in 2019 I succumbed to the 945 calling. I definitely wasn't interested in them when they first came out. Actually hated even looking at them.

#1, Who needs a weird combobulation of a 4506 top end grafted on a 1911 lower?

#2, I just really hated fish scale serrations. Even worse forward AND aft. 👎

#3, I hated Billboards.

#4, They were fairly expensive.

2018 I decided I'd keep a lookout for one. If I could find an early, (1st run,) LEW, excellent w/everything for a great price I'd get one. In 2019 I actually found one that met my requirements. It has become one of my most favorite .45's and I'm sorry I missed the years not having one.

Almost exactly three years later I saw a compact being offered. Slightly pre-loved but had everything including extra magazines. There wasn't much interest and I was high bid. Again I'm not disappointed with this 945 either. The only issue I have with it is the CS45/40 recoil spring it needs. My supply of them is running out.

I have a few different very high end .45's, (Colt and S&W's,) to compare and these 945's are special.

Jim
