Terms that are getting old

How about these companies (Walmart, Verizon, etc.) patting themselves on their backs, with tinkling piano music playing, saying how their employees are putting it all on the line for YOU, because we care, and we have the best employees in the world who are in it for you! (Cue the phony employee/actor with a smile on his/her face.) The workers are there because they need a job, pure & simple! Or, "Our delivery drivers are working 7 days a week to make sure you get your packages on time." Well, they need jobs, too. And the overtime is great. Perhaps they should get a couple days' rest before they drive the trucks out on the roads. Don't get me wrong, I DO appreciate all the workers...ALL of them, but Big Corp. patting themselves on their backs is sickening.
 
Mine wasn't 24-7, it was 24-7-365. When I retired the term was eliminated along with the company provided flip phone.

The next summer while on vacation I was fishing off the back of the boat and it finally hit me - they weren't going to call me today...or ever.

Of course, I wasn't going to get that huge paycheck either, or the 150% 401-K match.
 
There's a house not far from mine where, apparently, a nurse lives. He/she put up big signs on the porch: I'm a nurse working for YOU. We'll get through this. Keep the faith. Pray I can keep working for your loved ones. Honest to goodness, we have two nurses on my wife's side, my sister & brother in law are retired nurses in the CCU, I have many friends, classmates mainly, who are nurses. I love them all and respect all they do and have done before this virus hit, but not ONE of them would have the lack of self-respect to put signs up like that. Very poor taste.
 
We are not in this together, each one of us has to face this thing in our own personal way. I experience this differently than you do. The choices I make are different then yours. We do have to support one another the best we can. This is life and each day is different.

Not sure which bothers me more...
 
Well at least maybe we can go back to real, separate offices with walls and get rid of those silly, sardine-packed, "open offices".
 
If this keeps up too much longer we'll have another "Roaring 20's", just a little different.
 
I have "inspirational talk" fatigue.

I have stopped watching certain channels here as much as possible. The reason is they have no ads to air so they keep on showing allegedly inspirational clips made by various members of their team. They are sickly sweet to the point that I am in danger of losing teeth just by watching. After the 30th time of seeing them the only thing they inspire me to do is change the channel.
