My Terrier.

The model stamp under the crane is 32.

I sent my Terrier information to Roy Jinks. Here is what he said:

We have researched your Smith & Wesson .38 Terrier, Model 32, Flat latch variation, .38 Smith and Wesson. Company records indicate that this handgun, with serial number 828XX was shipped from the factory on April 16, 1959, and delivered to Belknap Hardware Co., Louisville, KY. The records indicate that this revolver was shipped with a 2" barrel, blue finish, and checkered walnut round butt grips. This shipment contained 25 units of this model in the above configuration and they were billed at the wholesale price of $36.89 each.

Yep, that’s the last “little Terrier.” The next iteration, the Model 32-1, used the J frame just like the Chiefs Special. Now it was tied for “smallest 38 from S&W” and since it was a lower powered cartridge in the same sized package, it lost its real reason for existing, and was discontinued not long thereafter.
