Glenn Beck announced today that he will tape his show on April 15th (tax day) at 4:00 central (5PM EST) at the ALAMO!!! He thinks that it would be a great backdrop that has a story that mirrors the trouble We The People are facing.

He was asking that anyone within driving distance show up. Having a huge turn out will definately send a message, bolster the 9/12 project, and the "We Surround Them" theme. He will also be at the "Tea-Party" that will follow in San Antonio.

I am about 3000 miles away, so if I start driving now...let's see, 2700 -X (carry the 2) plus 1450 +68 MPH average divided by..........I don't think I can make it, but if I was in the area I wouldn't miss it.

Knock, knock !!! It's April 3rd. You could make it with plenty of time to spare. Get on the road

Willie's gonna be there and he's forever "on the road again"

Howdy rewster. I start a thread titled "Texans Unite", and so far the only two responses are from a couple of Rhode Islanders!!!

We have our own tea-party lined up for the State house on April 15th between 3 pm and 6 pm. I think I will attend that one and save on the gas!

Don't worry, Glenn will have plenty of folks there. I'll be there in spirit only. I would rather gouge my left eye out than be crammed into Alamo Plaza with the crowd of supporters that will show up. I'm just not a fan of huge crowds. If Glenn decides to take a day trip to Gonzales though, I'll give him the tour. Show him the "Come and Take It" cannon and all.

Don't be upset with the Texans. They are just mad because you put beans in your chili.

I'd love to, but I'm flying up to MO on the 14th. It's for a good cause, though, I'm gonna spend a couple of days with my parents and buy a few old Winchesters from a long time friend.

I am sure that he will draw a crowd. There would have to be at least one other TV network that would give it a mention besides Fox. I have a feeling that it will be well attended.

BTW, what do you do with your beans if ya don't put 'em in your chili?

Given Democrats understanding of American history, I think they will consider the teabags to be offerings of their worshippers; and as a tax attorney, I look forward to the future of confiscatory and even more over-complicated taxation.

I heard today that the tax code was 80,000 pages. Is that true? And if so, how could it possibly get more complicated?

LOL! As we continue to implement social and economic policy through the tax code, the number of pages continues to multiply at an increasing rate like the memory ability of computers. The courts are still full of corporate cases based on the 1986 "simplification act". If it all was abolished today, the cases would wind their way through the courts for the rest of most of our lives. The code itself per se is quite "short", though annually revised, at three huge volumes of tiny print on tissue paper thin pages ( http://frwebgate.access.gpo.go...BROWSE&TITLE=26USCSA ), although when you add the regulations and explanations ( http://www.access.gpo.gov/cgi-...ble.cgi?title=200726 ) you now reach over twenty three such hardcopy volumes, each multiplicatively larger than the Bible, and to that you must add the almost hundred years of cases and hearings interpreting the above that in the few remaining hardcopy sets fill entire walls (that is available online primarily through pay services such as West, CCH and Lexis/Nexis (and in an almost unusable fashion from IRS.gov and other free sources)) - that is not to mention the countless libraries of conflicting and extending laws, ordinances, rules, cases and hearings maintained by our state and local governments. The vast majority of these codes and rules apply primarily, but not exclusively, to business taxpayers. I have never counted the pages but I defer to the following:

Thanks for the break, back to the returns...

I guess a 10% flat tax would be welcomed by all who have to deal with that mess! You would only need one book with one page with one sentence.

"Pay 10% on your earnings."

WG840

"Pay 10% on your earnings."

Only a few sections deal with the rates, 99.99999% of the "mess" deal with the definition of earnings which encompasses the universe for non-W2 taxpayers. Be careful what you ask for, the only new taxes, national sales tax or flat tax will come in addition to the current income tax.

In the words of the late great Emily Latella, "Nevermind!"

As a bankruptcy and criminal defense attorney, I too see growth potential in the coming years.
