From what I am seeing on TV, the Hurricane Harvey damage on the Gulf Coast looks horrendous and it's going to take a long time for the area get back to normal. If anyone wishes to donate toward recovery, just google Red Cross Hurricane Harvey which will take you directly to the Red Cross website for donations. You can use a credit card or your PayPal account. I think the Red Cross will need all they can get, and then some.

I remember too many stores about the Red Double Cross misleading the public.

Google: red cross earthquake money scandal

My money went to Salvation Army.
They do not have HIGH paid executives.

I met two Red Cross guys at work yesterday. They were there for supplies buy, people were stuffing money into their hands while they were there buying $750.00 generators. A supervisor called in and a couple Deputies arrived to make sure nobody cause troubles and supervised-and get this-as LEOs were in the area--they donated-as well as others. I got off work at 7:15--not sure how much they raised. All I had on me was $4-so was allI could donate. These two guys were from Houston.

if the forum rules allow it perhaps fi there are any forum members that need financial assistance due to Harvey they could set up go fund me pages and get the word out in The Lounge.

At one time I heard or read somewhere that Red Cross donations could be designated for either a particular state or disaster. The issue with any big charity is overhead. That translates to how much of each donated dollar actually gets used for the intended purpose. hardcase60

The Red Cross donation site has a provision to specifically select Hurricane Harvey relief.

I made a $100 donation to the Salvation Army Hurricane Harvey fund earlier this evening. It felt like the least I could do considering how well we have gotten through this so far.

We have been very lucky and blessed here in our little city between Houston and Sugar land. At last count 32.5 inches of rain have fallen here since Friday afternoon. The streets have filled and emptied several times but the water never got up past the sidewalk towards the house. Our electricity has been on the whole time as well as the internet. It is not quite over but the local weather guys think that tomorrow morning we may be seeing the last of the constant heavy rain here on our side of town. I see the devastation and heartbreak on the news so I know exactly how bad it could have been. My thanks to everyone who sent their thoughts and prayers in our direction.
