Thank you! Is there a way to get info on what model year it is? It is 100% original I believe. Is there any idea of value? What if anything should I do next with it? Do I need to apply for any authenticity certifications? Sorry not much of a gun guy, but I always coveted this gun as I remember my dad (who just passed) showing me this when my grandfather passed in the 90’s. Thank you for any help in this matter.

That's a very nice and sought after Smith. It's not in such pristine condition that you can't fire it occasionally....they are wonderfully accurate. Fwiw I recently sold my Triple Lock in slightly lesser condition for 2500.00.

Wow that’s amazing to know. Any idea on how to look up the year? I looked all over google and can’t seem to find any info on it. I was under the impression my grandfather had that in World War II. But I’m not sure if that in fact is the case. It doesn’t seem to have any kind of military markings on it or anything that would insinuate government issue.

I believe it dates to 1914-1915. You can get a factory letter. Info is on this site. The US did not issue the Triple Lock, but the British bought around 5000 or so in or converted to .455 caliber, for use in WW1.

Hello! Just a collector here not an appraiser. I believe you have and has been briefly mention is a .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model (New Century, Triple-Lock, .44 Model of 1908) They came in several calibers yours is .44 S&W Special. I believe it is a little bit earlier that fore-mentioned. perhaps 1910? In my eyes that one is valued at 2000-2500.00. This is assuming it is mechanically sound and has a decent rifling and no rust. Nice pistol. Keep her oiled and dry!

Thank you for your advice and information!! I have it in the hands of some local specialists for evaluation!

Please elaborate upon these local "experts". You will likely find more experts on this forum than anywhere else, and beware of the local "expert" as there is a good chance he or she knows just enough to be dangerous.

Nice TL, looks original to me. You'll need a S&W letter to know exactly when it shipped and to whom. The gold medallion stocks showed up in 1910. I have SN 10333 which shipped in May of 1917 and SN 11707 which shipped in February of 1916.

I think you just got offered a free letter! Don is the Historian that does letters. ;)
Sorry for your loss. I doubt Grandpappy used it in WW II.
You inherited a great gun. It will date to sometime around WW I.
That is the original finish. The grips are correct and may be original, but the left grip does not fit as well as it should. You might be able to see a serial number on back of the right grip written in pencil.
The market is a bit wonky due to the inflation of the last four years and recovery from Covid. In normal times I would peg the gun at $2500-3000.

Wow that’s quite an inheritance! Get that free letter Don offered for sure. It must be something special. 😎
hurry I can’t wait.
