I have seen, over the past 20 years or so, a couple of the Texas Wagon Train 150th Anniversary models: N-frame, 5-inch bbl,44-40 caliber, in the box with a book and other stuff. Supica (3rd Edition) notes that NIB brings $500.00.However, he also noted there was a special edition, 150 made, with ivory grips, engraved, and gold inlaid. He had no price on that version. I have had one offered to me, but $2900 seemed a bit much, even though it is NIB and has the display case as well. Anybody have any ideas on the value of a 1 of 150 version?
Thanks!

The first 150 are not well known. S&W did not produce them. The Texas Sesqusentenial Association commissioned them after S&W delivered the 544s.

A complete set should include a bronze longhorn and a commemorative coin in the display case along with the firearm.

Right now Cabellas has three sets for sale ranging from $2600 - $3900. To the best of my knowledge they are not selling at these prices.

I had the opportunity to by a set at a significantly lower price some time back, but I was short on cash.

If you are interested, you might make an offer around $1800 and see what happens.

Thanks for the update! The gun that was offered to me was just like your picture, but did not have the coin and bronze. Nice piece, but I think I'll pass at the price they want. I agree, about $1800 wouldn't be bad. Pretty gun, though.
