Well, on my way to the LSU game, I stopped by Cabella's to bring back a battery (no problem) and they were offering $25 off a purchase if I applied for a credit card. Well, $25 is $25 so I say why not indeed? I figure out I'll get a card with maybe a thosand dollar limit that I'll never use plus get $25 off that new reel I am buying. Welllllllllllllllll Lo and behold ( much to my wife's displeasure) 15 minutes later I get this shiny new VISA with a $9,000.00 limit  And to top it off I got the $25 off the reel even though I paid for it with real money instead of using the card.

Is this a great country or what :D

I got a free hydraulic jack from Sears like that a few years ago.

The jack was $14.99 + sales tax.
They had an offer of $15 off your first purchase on your new credit account if you opened one that day, plus they were running a 10%-off tool sale.
Once I "charged" my new jack to my new credit card and they took off the 10% for the sale, I had a 23¢ CREDIT on my new account. :)

It's the best tool that I never bought! :D

You do realize that this is America. Most folks see a $9K limit as equivalent to $9k in a bank account. Since you're flush (you 1% er you) it's your duty to spend past that limit and make sure the bank don't go broke betting on "derivatives" by forking over your share of fees. Enjoy. Joe

Caj you are a cheap skate. As a brand new shiny engineer in 1978 / 1979, I filled out every credit card application I got in the mail. My income was about $18,300 per year and my credit card limit was $93,000. My first house was $75,300 financed with a VA loan. I sure glad I don't live there now.

They send out decent specials from time to time. A couple of years ago, they sent me a coupon that gave me a $150 gift card if I spent over $500. They had a Henry Big Boy in .45 Colt on sale. I bought that and used the gift card to buy some Oregon Trail bullets to load for it.

Their prices are a bit too high unless you wait for a sale.

They had a 1940 vintage 38/200 that was converted by Parker-Hale to .22LR after the war. It was marked Model 17 and the price was $325.

Home Depot used to offer $50 off of your first order if you took out a new card. They also offered no interest if paid in under a year. I bought my Kitchen cabinets, financed then (free) for a year paid them off and cancelled the card. Oh the cabinets were on closout 25% 0ff.

Did the same thing at Bass Pro a few years ago. Now,I'm still getting the junk mail, convenience checks and phone calls urging me to use the card. I've never used it and don't intend to. Why I haven't cancelled it is one of life's mysteries,I suppose.

For a long time I've wanted a nice Seiko chronograph. The $400-500 prices made me keep wanting instead of buying. Then one day my wife and I went into Belks to look around. I found some nice Seiko watches (they are so nice) in the case. Then I noticed a Seiko chronograph hanging off to the side with some other items marked 1/2 off. That got it down out of the nose bleed level to a more realistic $240, but it got better. There was a 1/3 sale on marked merchandise. And... that watch was in the marked merchandise counter. Then the nice lady behind the counter explained that it was Friday... and there was an additional discount that would be applied (I forget the exact amount). Finally... by filing out a Belk charge card application, I would get another discount. Well! The out the door price of that little Sekio chronograph came to (drum roll and cannon salute!!!) $78... cool. But... there was a little bauble I bought my wife (wonderful woman!) that brought the total up to right at $600... how could I say no. That necklace was just made for her!

As long as your Credit Report can take the hit, these are good deals. To the Bureau, a credit card with a $9000 limit is $9000 in potential debt.

There's a Cabela's about 2 Kilometers from me. I've gotten some pretty good / great used gun deals in the 4 years it's been open. Not so much anymore. The gun purchase procedure as of now is a real pia. I've got to really want something to go thru their checkout torcher.(sp?) Cabela clothing quality is pretty pretty good, but expensive. I buy their clothing on sale off the internet catalog.

i used to use regularly two cards for me and my wife to rack up airline
miles to get free trips....i thought it was a great deal

but then they lessened the number of seats available for miles redemption
and then restricted the times you could fly, making redeeming miles a royal
p.i.t.a

then......i got a cabelas card....i had been racking up points with their
club membership and realized that i could double and some times even triple or quintuple the points at certain times of the year when they had special sales.....and the points started to accumulate....

lots of points

my wife thought i was going to buy her clothes with the points
(it is a very smart idea for these sports stores to sell women's stuff...
much easier to convince the chief financial officer when you get some
nice stuff for her)....i figured i would rack up points and buy a gun

well...that was two guns ago.....and still accumulating

yes...some of the prices are a little high....and for me, it is more
expensive to go to the store, as i have to pay sales tax, whereas through
the mail (for now) i dont have to.....and they always send you coupons
for money off.....and now there is free shipping with no minimum....

so it all works out really well...

of course, you should not run a balance, because that will offset any
points you might accumulate.....but it is a GREAT deal
