Thanks, LEOs

I know there are lots of threads on here that paint LEOs in a bad light. I, too, have had bad experiences with a couple of LEOs, but have had many, many more good ones. I don't see enough of those good ones, and rarely see anyone say thanks. So I'm saying "Thanks!" and posting this link to a story about three GA LEOs who done good.

I'll add my thanks to all the LEOs who put it on the line every shift. There are some sensational stories about the times when they screw up, and too few stories like the one in truckemup's post.

I think the good guys in the LEO ranks outnumber the bad ones by at least 100 to 1.

I grew up in Rome GA, 50 years ago, when I was a kid, the LEO's gave a stupid kid a break (me) many times!

Cops are recruited from the same gene pool that every other profession does. That means there's inevitably going to be some knuckleheads in the job. But between tough standards for hiring, and the intestinal fortitude it takes to do the work, I think there might be a few less than there are in many other professions.

I have seen a lot of people make it through the academy based on training results only to be fired after a short time on the streets. Reasons for temination are so many that it would be impossible to keep up with all them. Most of those became officers for all the wrong reasons.

As stated above, it happens in all professions. I have seen many lawyers disbarred that never should have been in the profession.

I have also came to the conclusion that where the officer is from and works will make a difference in their attitude and performance.
