Thanks to our liberators

On this 8th of May, I want once more to say the gratitude of the French people for the liberators of our nation. Today, in France, there are parades almost everywhere with many associations who restore American army vehicles and parade with American uniforms.

At htis time, this is the case on the Paris Champs Elysees.

Some of those liberators were free French Soldiers risking their lives to retake their country from tyranny. The French Resisitance fighters helped prepare for liberation by fighting behind the lines and, in some cases, giving their lives to make France free again. It was a huge effort involving all the allies determined to defeat the Nazis. The alliance of our two countries, France and the US, is inseperable. France helped us become a free nation. We will forever be grateful for that.

And we recall our debt to the French people - without the leadership of Lafayette, and the French muscle of C-in-C Rochambeau (Expédition Particulière) and Lieutenant général des armées navales DGrasse, there might be no United States.
