OUR RECENT VACATION SUPERCEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS - HURAY!!

I also think cruising is about the best bang for he buck! I've been on Princess at least a half dozen times and it is a very good line as well. We just gravitate to Celebrity as there are usually less kids on the ship. Since we have been on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean (when my kids were young) so many times we have all kinds of status and points with those two lines (same company BTW so they honor each others points.
The last Princess we took had no more than a dozen kids total. But there were a whole bunch of scooters parked at the dining room door every evening.

Our family took a Christmas cruise in 1992 on Celebrity's brand-new ship, the Zenith. Everything was first-rate, and we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. It sounds like Celebrity has kept up its standards over the years, so good for them. Here's the Zenith as it looked when we sailed on it:

I wondered how the Zenith looked currently, but I can't show you, because it's now a pile of scrap metal in India. Salt water is ruinous to even the finest of ships.:(

That's great you had a good time. My daughter and SIL just came back from a cruise on one of the nicer ships and they said it was OK but VERY crowded! It was standing room only in the pool and everyone was drinking heavily and not many getting out to use the restroom. Even when they stopped at the beach everyone on the ship crammed into a small beach and they were really tired of crowds by the time they got home.
