Couldn't say much about the music which is popular today.

As always, I take frequent trips to the past via iTunes which now holds my almost entire music collection.

I remember the groups that really could sing.

One of my favorites:D

My tastes are pretty eclectic, but in this case I have to say SAM COOK and throw in a bit of Marvin Gay. I don't think anyone in the genre can outsing Sam Cook.

I don't know much about the Philly sound.

Lots of slow dancin' to La La means I love you.....even though I really didn't. ;):D
 
They don't make choreography like that anymore...

Can't leave out Marvin, or Brook Benton. "Rainy Night In Georgia" is one of my all-time favorites.

The whole family watched and enjoyed that show, I think it ran for something like 30+ years.

But our favorite was "Showtime At The Apollo", which came in from the Apollo Theater, in Harlem, NY.
Man did we love that show.

I bought my first pair of Cons on 125th, back in the 60's. Amazing I survived the trip with all the crime and all, and no gun. ;)
 
I love the old classic soul, I found a 2 cd set at my favorite second had store with the title Classic MoTown, man, they don't sing like that anymore. "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" gets played a lot, then I hear rap, and I just shutter!

Available at Amazon.

The DVD covers the Funk Brothers, the musicians that played on almost every hit coming out of Motown.

The Spinners graduated from Lincoln High School (now Ferndale High School) around 1958 (I believe). I entered Lincoln High in 1957.
