Just came by FEDEX. The slide was locking back as it should while empty, but when you switched to a loaded magazine the slide wouldn't release by pulling back on it, you had the hit the slide release. S&W replaced the release and everything is working fine. I really like this Compact .45 and the optional grips are a nice touch. It handles recoil surprisingly well, better than my Colt Series 70. I bought two of those fourteen shot magazines and shot them fairly quickly on my Home range accuracy was excellent. In my hands my CZ 97b will outshoot it all day long, but it's better than I hoped it would be for a Compact. $500.00 OTD, certainly worth it.

It may not be as accurate as your CZ97, but it also doesn't weigh as much as a boat anchor. I handled the CZ a few years ago and though it was a bit on the heavy side. I do like CZ's though. I have a 45 Shield and am thinking about selling it and getting a larger M&P.

I'll carry a boat anchor that has great accuracy and reliability in .45 any day. It's my favorite .45 for carry. I don't know why you think it's too heavy. Maybe your just more used to polymer.

I own a S&W M&P 45 with the short barrel. The frame is colored desert tan and the slide is blued. This is my carry gun. Absolutely my favorite. I use factory Remington hollow nose in it.

I don't think the CZ is too heavy for general use, but I considered it too heavy for me to carry every day. With only one exception (which I am actually going to sell) I do not own any plastic guns. I simply saw no benefit to it if I wasn't going to carry it as at that time, I had two other full size 45's. I carry every day and do not "dress for the gun" which I would have to do with any full size 45.

The CZ 97b is my Winter CCW. I carry it in a Bianchi shoulder holster. OWB is to slow wearing a parka. I do prefer all metal guns but I'm not in the least put off by polymer if they are good guns. I would put the M&P in that category and I'm pleased that recoil with it is handled well. Other than the Glock21 in .45 I don't like any of the Glocks in 9MM. Again I prefer CZ's in 9MM though the two Sig 320's I got for Christmas are a pleasant surprise.
