The AK 47-time tested. If it ain't broke fix it 'till it is

Fixing things that aren't broken always shakes down to a money decision. Let's fix all of the problems with the AK (loose tolerances, less than sniper accuracy) by removing it's strengths (durability, cost, reliability and purpose). The market will determine if this is something people want or don't. If want tighter tolerances and better accuracy for more money (although this is neglible now) by an AR-15 or 10. The only issue I have with an AK (that I wish could be addresse) is the rock and lock magazine, give me everything else the same! That's why I'll never get rid of my sks!!

This reminds me of how a few years ago some Doctor with too much free time on his hands got it into his head that 9mm Luger needed to be a straight-walled cartridge and actually went about producing some overpriced straight-walled 9mm ammo called 9mm Auto.

Not only have I never heard of 9mm Luger's slightly tapered case ever being a problem, (in fact most claim that it aids in feeding) but also there are already other straight-walled 9mm cartridges such as .380 ACP and .38 Super, so...why?

With all the accuracy obsessed shooters in the US, they'll sell every AK-20 they can make.

Besides, making a rifle accurate doesn't necessarily make it a finicky princess. The Enfield No.4 Mk1T and Mosin 91/30 sniper rifles are proof of that.

Some people like to swim with the current. They buy accurate bolt action rifles, semis that shoot 2MOA with reliable magazines, Glocks, S&W 686s, etc. Y'know, best of breed type guns that hit the sweet spots.

Then there are those that just have to swim against it. They work to make AKs, M1As, FALs, etc into match rifles. Their CCWs are eclectic and high-priced guns like a Dan Wesson 10mm 1911 or S&W 627 snub (or, heck, both at the same time). They don't really seem to care about velocity loss from short barrels. The juice is always worth the squeeze when you get something unique or cool out of it.
