AARP - not selective in recruiting ...

I have temporary membership cards that were sent trying to recruit new members.

These cards were sent in the name of my cat who has been deceased since 1998.

If alive he might qualify based on cat years.

I couldn't join either association.
I never intend to retire, and I'll NEVER be "mature".:D
Missus P&R Fan gives a hearty Amen to that one.

There was a time when businesses gave discounts to AARP members. Now most just want you to be old. I qualify for that. My AARP expires next year and I will not renew. I have lost faith in their ability to represent my best interests.

I have looked at AMAC and I feel that their dues are too high and that I would not get my moneys worth out of a membership.

Use your money to join the SWCA.

I'm 36 and still immature so I doubt I will ever belong to such a group. I will never get old because I simply refuse to grow up. Now if you excuse me I am going to go get a bowl of cocoa pebbles and watch cartoons.

WAS an AARPer

Cut my card in half and sent it back 3 years ago when I figured out they are just a front for liberal, money motivated PIN HEADS !

Don't know much about amac.....

My mother rejected AARP membership when she found they were governed in a very undemocratic manner.

Definitely no AARP for me. They espouse a philosphy that is in direct opposition to everything I believe in. Regarding maturity and the acquisition of same, it brings to mind what an old man told me once when I asked if I could ever manage to live to be his age. He said, Yes, one thing, no matter what else you do don't ever completely grow up."

Reviving this older thread. I recently joined AMAC. It was only $15 a year for both of us (my spouse and I). It is a conservative alternative to AARP. They lobby for us "seasoned" citizens who are right thinking.

Is anyone familiar with 60 Plus? Also a conservative alternate. I saw it advertised once. After a quick scan of the website, though, I couldn't find a joining fee, so maybe some of you are more alert...
60 Plus Association

AARP is a large insurance company with a large left wing lobby. They hate the 2nd amendment and mostly lobby for causes that I don't like. I won't have any part of them.

Yes!! The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC)

I paid $59 for 5 year membership. I am saving at least $23 per month  on Medicare supplement insurance from AMAC compared to several other group rate offers. I received a membership card but have not been bombarded with mail offers yet.

AARP sends at least one letter every week. I don't even bother sending gun clippings back any more.
