Like much of the US, Southern Nevada has not had much of a winter. I am a firm believer that a few hard freezes are a good thing to cull certain herds, especially here in Roach Central West. So, as I walked through the garage to get the mail this afternoon what do I see but my first Black Widow web of 2012. Oh, deep joy. Knowing she would be under cover in daylight I ignored her, but did spray all around the outside of the house with Ortho Home Defense.
Waited until dark then went out with the flashlight in one hand and Raid in the other and dealt with "The Lady" who had now broken cover. First kill of the year and it won't be the last.
OK, so now maybe I should check their usual haunts in the shrubs near the house. No more spiders, but I did spot a dozy cockroach on the drive. Dozy to dead in one squeeze of the spray can.
I suppose battle has been joined early this year.
