Sorry for you and your wife's loss. I had a friend that was afflicted with some very uncommon maladies. As a child he caught Polio which stunted his growth, then later in mid forties he developed breast cancer and finally in his sixties he developed bone cancer that ate his skull. At one point one of his eyeballs just fell out on his cheek when he coughed, they rushed him off to the big hospital in Seattle....Harbor View. I believe Harbor View is associated with the University of Washington's Medical School. All of his medical bills after a certain point were forgiven as long as he played along with their experimenting. Like some folks I know he was terrified of dying and willing to fight to the bitter end. They used a titanium mesh to reconstruct his eyeball orbit, he looked somewhat like the Terminator when I last saw him. In the end when his wife went to pick up his remains it was a small box less than 4" square. She was told that they sliced and diced him into very slim slivers so they could exam the tissues under a microscope. No charge...
