People are endlessly inventive. Thanks for the article, quite interesting.
Wonderfully interesting!!! Love the animation. I always wanted a Webley Fosberry; maybe one of these days. I do reload the .455 cartridge. Was that a 7.65mm caliber Mauser Zig Zag?
Wrong movie....
Think of a black bird.
Yes that is indeed the smaller 7.65mm Mauser Zig Zag. Mauser also made a large frame 11mm version with top break hinge but they are exceedingly hard to find.
QUOTE]
Mauser made the top break in 7.65, 9mm and 11mm, DWM case numbers 5, 6 and 7. I think the 7.65 is scarcest. They made the solid frame in 9 and 11mm; 9mm is VERY rare. The attached thumbnail is my 9mm, less an ejector rod. They also made a revolving rifle, solid frame, 11mm only, also rare.
I think the quote from Maltse Falcon is something like this: "Yeah, it's a Webley Fosberry, 38 caliber. They don't make them any more". The Webley Fosberry was also available in 38 ACP (semi rimless cartridge).
Great post. The zigzag cilinder is also used in the Union revolver.
