Many have witness that eagles do not always fight the snake on the ground. It picks it up into the sky and changes the battle ground, and then it releases the snake into the sky as it tumbles to its death.

The snake has no stamina, no power or balance in the air. It is useless, weak, and vulnerable unlike on the ground where it is deadly.

Don't fight the enemy in his comfort zone, change the battle grounds and take your fight into the spiritual realm by praying and letting God take charge through your earnest prayer.

Secretary birds are sort of ground dwelling (and hunting) eagles, and they eat a lot of snakes. The African savannah wouldn't be the same without them stalking around looking for snakes or rodents, etc.

Is that a real eagle or a Caracara with the snake on the Mexican flag? Always wondered. Seems to vary with the artist/flag.

I used to watch them drop the snake. They also drop rockchucks, not to take the fight out but to tenderize them. I feel blessed to live where I see eagles 10-11 months out of the year.

Mexican tradition is that the bird on the flag is an Eagle that the first Aztecs saw eating a snake when they established Mexico City. It was viewed as a good omen. Different artist may use whatever model is at hand.
