So, my youngest son and I spent the morning with my buddy and his son at the gun show. We waited in line outside for about 20 minutes visiting with the other people in line. When we finally got inside there was a house full of people in the Conway Expo Center already there. And you know what? They were friendly people, and courteous. Due to the crowd I bumped into several people and we all said "excuse me", and they said "thank you" when we stepped aside to let someone else view the merchandise on the tables.
I saw and visited with a couple of elected officials I knew, several of my neighbors, and my son spoke to at least two of his teachers from school. I even saw several people wearing camo clothing. There were a lot of white folks there, and some black folks and hispanics too, but no riots or mayhem. Yes indeed, it was a pleasant environment.
But, oh my, there were guns everywhere (well, it was a gun show), and ammo too. How those bullets kept from jumping off of one table and into guns on another and just wiping out the whole crowd I'll never know. I saw a lot of people touching and handling guns, knives, high capacity magazines, and eating free samples of pork rinds. I handled several guns myself, even a couple of so called 'assault rifles', and handling them did not cause me to have cruel or sadistic thoughts. Neither did the pork rinds.
I did buy a couple of accessories and got a good deal on a flashlight I'd been looking for. I've been going to gun shows for 30 years and just like in the past not once did I feel uncomforthable, threatened, or fear for my son or I. Quite the opposite . . . we had fun at the gun show!
