The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Gun....

I first saw this movie in North Africa in French with Arabic subtitles. 1966. Directed by an Italian, and filmed in Spain, IIRC. I have seen it many times here in the states in English, but that first viewing had me so confused that I have never recovered!!

I still enjoy it, though....doesn't have to make sense!!

Edit.... here’s some neat factoids:

Lot's of great lines....

Lot's of great lines in this one....

Don't die, I'll get you water. Stay there. Don't move, I'll get you water. Don't die until later.

Such ingratitude, after all the times I saved your life.

the condemned is found guilty of the crimes of murder, armed robbery of citizens, state banks and post offices, the theft of sacred objects, arson in a state prison, perjury, bigamy, deserting his wife and children, inciting prostitution, kidnapping, extortion, receiving stolen goods, selling stolen goods, passing counterfeit money, and, contrary to the laws of this state, the condemned is guilty of using marked cards.

I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

Oh no, not you, you remain tied. I'll keep the money and you can have the rope.

Put your drawers on, and take your gun off.

It's also an anachronism too, since GB&U takes place during the Civil War. The gun wasn't even invented until 1868. ;) It's one of quite a few anachronisms on firearms in the movie. Another one was how the revolvers used by them changed from percussion to cartridge conversion guns throughout the movie. And the cartridge conversion guns are an anachronism itself as they weren't invented until after the war too. But it's still an entertaining movie though.

If that’s the worst offense, the prop department did a pretty good job.

How many westerns have featured Colt SAAs and Winchester 94s decades before they were introduced?
