Some of you got to handle this at the Symposium, for others; what are your thoughts?

I should note that the front/rear sights are Ivory. Rib is Brass. Stocks are Ivory.

Looks like I will need to bust out the better camera too, these pictures don't really do it justice.

I'm not normally into chopped or heavily modified revolvers. But although odd that shows some very good craftsmanship. Someone put some serious time and effort into that. Very neat. Who knows maybe it had a bulge in the barrel and needed to be cut to clean it up. Whatever the story it was someone's dream and it was well executed.

Wish you could have been there too. You were missed.
Thanks for the kind words, Richard! I was sitting here chafing 'cause I knew y'all were having fun. Seems like we could live stream the symposium so those that can't make it can at least participate. Anyway...enough on this OT dialog. Show us some more pictures, Caleb!

Neat gun!
Would appreciate more/better pics of grips and sights. Ivory with pearl inlays? Interesting!

Dang, Caleb! Where DO you find these marvels? Is the rib press fit to the barrel? Wish I had been able to be at the Symposium so I could have handled it. :(

I have some information about it from the time it was done:

... the rib is horizontally scored and the frame cutout undercut to ensure a mechanical lock. ... The rest is fitting and tension.

So press fit I think would be safe to say, also tension from the front attachment to the band (silver soldered on), and I think the whole piece may be tensioned like the old King ribs were.

Neat gun!

I think they may be abalone. They are indeed old ivory. As mentioned above I actually possess some information regarding them. I believe they were probably some GI commissioned work from somewhere post war. When originally made they just had a wood screw that went directly into the ivory. The screw and escutcheons were made at the time that the sight was added to the gun.

Sadly I won't have time to break out the better camera for a couple weeks, just had to be quick and dirty. But I should be able to pop in and answer questions regarding it if you need.

Plus, a bunch of people at the symposium handled it and may be able to add observations.

Interesting gun and certainly unique. The finish wear looks like it was received from long hard use/carrying and not from poor storage and then aggressive cleaning. Whoever The Greek was, he must have enjoyed the gun for a long time. The use of brass for the rib is very unusual.

Very cool and unique revolver! I too would like to know how you came upon it.
The more I look at it the more I like it. Have you shot it? Would like to see how the sights are regulated.
Congratulations on another great find.

Wow, beautiful gun! I'm usually more of a plain-jane with guns, but I think that one is really cool.
Is that considered a target modification? How do the sights adjust?

They are fixed. The rib is to give them a clear sight plane (which is blacked and grooved so as not to be reflective) they are as noted:

I think he's heavily King influenced

clearly based on the King Super Police sights. Although a little smaller, and made of ivory (front and rear, that tiny little insert in there is actually a little semi-circle of ivory).
