One must have to be mad-dog mean and tough as nails to live in Wyoming!

Just a glance at the other articles on the web site shows headlines of “Thumb nearly ripped off by a crossbow,” “Poisonous Death Cap Mushrooms,” “Make My Day, One Shot Kill with .44 magnum on Bull Elk.”

I also think the Cowboy State Daily has to be the most interesting newspaper in America!

Score one for the bears. And thank goodness for a state wildlife management agency who exercises good judgement.

“The agency doesn't plan to take any management action against the grizzly bear, such as relocating it or euthanizing it, Smith said Monday, because the attack was due to the bear being surprised and because wildlife managers would not be able to identify which of the bears in the area was involved.

Grizzly bears are protected under the Endangered Species Act.”

We think differently.

Happily, the closest I've been to griz was 100yds. Close enough for me. Fantastic critters, esp. when they're not hungry or mad.

Griz didn't win here. Last week a bird hunter over by Choteau, about 120 miles west of me, surprised a 650# boar while bird hunting, he manged to stop it with a 12 gauge and a handgun. Hunter went to to hospital with "non life threatening injuries" and the Dept of Fur and Fin went out and euthanized the bear due to its injuries.
