Saw a 629-1 at the show. 4" barrel, nice shape, private seller that was thinning the herd. He had at least 2 dozen handguns, took up a couple of tables. I didn't know the value of the gun, so I very reluctantly passed. Asking price was $935, he said he could do $900. With all of those guns for sale, I don't think any of 'em had been shot much.

Is $900 a good price for 4" 629-1?

Did I pass on a deal?

It doesn't matter right now, but the info may be helpful in the future.

I would have passed. Not even sure a no dash without a box would be worth that

Easily it would be. The 4" 629 no dash was only made for one year. Those I have personally seen (a whopping 2) have been $1300 and $1500 without a box.

A 629-1 though, not even close.

Thank you all for your prompt replies!

I feel better for not buying this gun.

I have passed on some guns that were a steal, but not knowing what I was looking at, I didn't buy them. Didn't find out what they were worth until it was too late.

Speaking of 629-1.
Recently Saw one for $500.
It was in excellent condition- except the rear sight was missing.
I do have a sight in my gun box.
But it was a 6, and already have a couple.
If it had been a 4?
Maybe!
That was at a Gunshow in Reserve, NM.
A place so remote that lots of locals have never been there.
So maybe guns are cheaper in small out of way places?

My LGS had a 6 inch well used 629-1 with no box or tools fly out in a week for $1000.00.Location and scarce Availbility drives prices in my area.
