Love mine, a 1978 model. I originally had a 4" version and sold it to a buddy, then I guy I worked with had one he wanted to sell in the box (6") that was probably 20 years ago. I started shooting this again and is the main reason I decided to spent the cash on a 4" model 617.

A prewar example in rather rough shape. In an over six month period, it garnered exactly one bid and so went for cheap. I'd opine that the grip (which looks to be in decent condition) might be worth the price paid all on its own: Item # 4653 (Ended 2025-02-28 22:59:51) - Harrington & Richardson, H&R Sportsman 999, CAL: 22LR, MFG: 19...

Here's a recently auctioned earliest type SA Sportsman. Bill Goforth thought the serial number range for these should be S01 to approximately S2200 but conceded that the "S" might not be present.
