Like grips, holsters are a very subjective choice and what suits one person down to his boot heals may not be at all acceptable for the next guy. That being cleared up I just recently acquired what for me is the ideal holster for a 3.5" N-frame like the 27-2.
I have one of those that was rescued from a rough life, much abuse by a previous owner. In saving it I had my gun smith customize it just a bit to better suit what I thought a carry gun should be. It turned out just fine but I never found a holster I was really fond of until now.
I am fortunate in that I personally knew Milt Sparks of holster making fame. He was a fine gentleman and a fine craftsman and the people who have taken over his shop and his name are still turning out some of the best hand made gun leather around. My most recent purchase from them is this PMK for the 3.5" N-frame.
Milt Sparks leather looks better even from the back side than some stuff for sale today.
What particularly pleases me about this holster is that I have three revolvers that fit in the category of 3.5" N-frames.
From left to right (clockwise) is the previously mentioned, lightly customized 27-2; then at top is a chopped down and hard chromed 1917 S&W; and finally is a 624 that's been cut down to 3-3/8" and chopped to a K-frame round butt. They all fit just fine in the PMK and it's going to be kept busy carrying them all.
