... in a caliber that begins with a "4". This creature feature (courtesy of Fox . News .com) is impressive with the photos. I've seen some big rats in NYC, but this one is rather intimidating. I cannot imagine having one wandering about the house WITHOUT keeping a 29/629 or 12 gauge charged and ready for battle.

Photo-shopped?

Did anyone notice that the guy holding the "mouse" has one hand on the kitchen counter and the other hand holding the creature by either the trap or the front legs, in which case, why isn't it flopping over?

In the second picture - the side shot - he is holding something in his hand, and the other end of the thing has the rat by the hind leg. The trap is not sitting on anything. Whatever it is, it has a white handle, and then the end holding rat is also white.

Maybe one of them "take a can off the top shelf" grabbers?

That looks like a normal Norway Rat, on the large size, but in no way huge! Get to a grain farm and see some adult ground hog sized rats, then you fear rats! But as for city people, who seldom see a mouse, I'm sure this was scary. Ivan

You all notice that it's not in Texas :p

I'v seen rats bigger than that, but they live under the factory where i work.
Living on paper pulp.

Looks like a marsupial to me:eek:, where's granny when you need a good recipe for some possum innards victuals.

I have a horror of rats that almost amounts to phobia. I've seen what they have done to human babies left unattended.

That one may not be a candidate for Boone & Crockett listing, but it's damn sure big enough to give me the shudders.

Classic "fishermans move" hold it closer to the camera but in front of you,
and it looks a lot bigger than it really is :p

The female cats are more aggressive to kill rats. My dad growing up on a farm always said this. The female cats are man(rat killers) eaters.
My three feral cats would tag team that big rat for sure all in a day's work patrolling my place. No rats but the squirrels are missing. There keeping every varmit population in Check.
