If you missed it on the news, a 10 year old boy off Cocoa Beach, FL was seriously injured by what was described as a juvenile bull shark.

One source added that it's the 10th attack there so far this year. That means at Cocoa Beach, not in the whole of Florida.

Learned to surf there when I was stationed at Patrick. Loved that place

16 ft. Great White seen off the coast of Jupiter (Palm Bch/Martin co. line) two days ago. Those that know the area may find it interesting the diver who filmed it is named John Dickinson.

Is the M1 Garand, along with a bigger boat, still the best medicine for sharks?

I have read that bullsharks are aggressive and may be more of a danger than great whites. Though I have also read that Australia covers up the true number of shark attacks.

There are more bull sharks and they hang out closer to shore, usually, and they supposedly have the highest testosterone count of any animal.

This is the shark that goes up fresh water rivers over 1,000 miles. With the white and the tiger, it is one of the three most dangerous sharks. But the oceanic white - tip and others are also very bad. They just don't come in so close to beaches, so encounter few humans.

Blues and makos are also among known man-eaters.

I've spent untold hours both on and in the water over the years as a surfer, fisherman, and diver.

I swam with hundreds of sharks and stingrays in Shark Ray Alley in Belize.

I once had a nice nurse shark let me grab its fin and swim with it for over 50 yards.

-------> Bull sharks scare the heck out of me.<--------

The area just outside Ponce inlet is "sharknado." Tides cause tons of fish action and sharks that find them tasty. They'd rather eat fish but their poor eyesight and frenzy sometimes tells them your leg="drumstick!" Fortunately most attacks can be stitched up. Joe

With all these shark attacks and the Lightning Capital of the USA that should teach the tourists from coming down here!:D
(I am sorry that a kid got hurt)
Heck I surfed, swam fished in the Cocoa Beach area for many many years. Still have all my toes.;)

Do a percentage analysis of the number of people that enter the water along the entire cost line of Florida, bit sides and the amount of shark "attacks" a very very few. Many reported ones are not sharks at all.

Were I live now we have BIG Tarpon Tournaments, Now I would not be swimming in that harbor, due to the massive hammerheads!

My ex lives in Cocoa Beach. She is more deadly than any little ol' shark.
