I'm interested in seeing photos of others Model 29 and 629s. For sure I want to see some of those nice early pre-29 because I'm interested in seeing the placement of the barrel stampings on various barrel lengths.

So I'll start out with an odd ball 4 screw pre-29 serial #S1807xx that is waiting for it letter.

Bill, you prompted me to look and see just what I have in 44 Magnum. Nothing prior to 1982 unfortunately.

I like taking pictures, so here is the group.

Crappy phone pic but here's my first 29 bought in about 1982 and somewhat customized since.

Bill...Some barrels on 6 1/2-inch 44 Magnums were stamped farther forward than is normally found (s/n range is S178000 to S182000). Your gun is one of those, except for the 5-inch barrel. Let us know what the letter says.

I'll add three to the pool. Two of them are somewhat limited runs.

4" nickel 29-2 with TS/TH/TT/RR/WO. The stocks have a really nice straight grain. This one is all original and will stay that way.

3" Lew Horton 29-3. Originally it came with a combat hammer, target trigger, and S&W medallion RB combats. I do not like either, so I removed and saved the trigger and replaced it with a combat trigger that has been smoothed and rounded. Sweet action job and Ahrends finger groove combats round out a superb carry thumper.

629-3 Mountain Gun. This one is all stock except for the S&W medallion rubber Hogues it came with. Those are stored right next to the combats from the LH. In its place my favorite stocks: Ahrends RB finger grooves. An action job is in its near future.
