The most accurate revolver you ever fired ???

The most accurate service/carry revolver I have every fired was my firends 3.5 inch early model 27 that was worked on by Clark's years ago . 125 grain MED.VEL 357 magnum would hold a ten ring at 25 yards with me shooting the gun DA.

The most accurate target field gun I have ever shot was a stock model 57 six inch (action by Bill Davis SAC.Ca.)

With premium factory loads I was able to engage B-27 police std target out to 100 yards firing standing, DA.

Thr revolver that I can shoot most accurately (and makes me look like I know what I'm doing) is my early post-war K-22. When i take non-shooters out to the range for the first time, I have them shoot the K-22. It is discouraging to be unable to hit the target, but the K-22 is so easy to shoot well that non-shooters quickly develop confidence, and they realize that recreational shooting is fun and something they want to do. My K-22 has turned a lot of people onto the shooting sports.

Centerfire revolver; I can't decide between Models 14, 27, 586, 686, or 696. The 696 is my favorite and the one I shoot the most, but they are all supremely accurate. My father was a Smith & Wesson man, and I guess Smith & Wesson is in my blood.

The most accurate revolver I have ever fired would have to be my S&W Model 1955, ...45 auto. It has the old type W mainspring and the most wonderful trigger I have ever seen in a revolver. Second best, a Colt Python with a six inch barrel.

I just started shooting revolvers last July, so there are not a whole lot of data points. But too date, my most accurate revolver is my S&W Model 17-3. The most accurate centerfire is my Model 14. Those guns with barrels - 6" & 8 3/8" respectfully are shot single action. The revolver that I shoot best double action is my Model 10-6 heavy barrel 4", but at closer range.

Dan Wesson .357 with a 15" barrel, followed by a Dan Wesson .44 magnum with a 10" barrel. S&W 17with 8 3/8 and a S&W14-4 8 3/8 close behind..all 4 guns are capable of better shooting than the shooter...me

The revolver that was my most accurate is one that I no longer own:a 7.5 inch .357 Redhawk.When I had good eyes the Redhawk would shoot 1 to 2 inch groups at 100 yards as long as I used reloads set for the gun!

That is a hard question for me to answer, but here are some Random Thoughts.

When I first started shooting Police Combat, I bought a S&W 6" Mod 14 and had a Bomar Rib Installed. I shot this gun for a year or two, and I also shot several Custom Bull Barreled revolvers made by the best custom revolver Smiths of the day. I even shot some to the best shooters custom guns.

I have NEVER shot a 38 Special PPC gun at 50 yards that shot as good as my factory Mod 14...

Also I bought a S&W 2 1/2" Mod 19 for the Snub Nosed Matches.

Again I must have got lucky for out to 25 yards this gun is a near one holer.

It is amazing.

For the record, I'm not saying that anything shoots better than anything else, but I will say the most accurate shooting I've ever done with a handgun (which really isn't saying a whole lot) is with my 619. It surprised me when I fired it for the first time, and there's a member on this forum (scooter) that has a 620 that'll put mine to shame.

My S&W Combat Masterpiece (pre 15) is more accurate (at least for me) than any other wheel gun I have ever shot in my life! Even all the 6" barrel target revolvers I own don't hold a candle to this one. The funny part is that this particular gun has had more rounds through it than any other that I own, and has had just about every part replaced at least once, including the barrel. The gun is an absolute tack driver!!

My 10-6 4 inch has put everything into a 2 or less inch group at 25 yards. I think it may just be that pistol, but it is just uncanny!
I'm glad that the chump who unloaded it to the Harrisburg Gander Mountain did so!

My .30 Carbine Blackhawk gives me surprising groups. I don't think the caliber or gun is special, just that it's easy for me to shoot well due to its size and weight.

Since other posters are telling about other revolvers besides S&W's I thought I'd be honest and join in. My Freedom Arms 44 Magnum with a 10" barrel made for silhouette is the most accurate wheel gun I've had any experience with. Clay pidgeons at 100yds. don't last very long and it's a pleasure to shoot all day and doesn't beat you up.

The most accurate DA revolver I've ever shot is an old model 10 made into a PPC gun built by Royce Weddle and owned by another forum member here.

I have two that are neck and neck in accuracy.

Model 53-2 .22 Jet with a 4" barrel
Model 627-0 in .357 Magnum with a 5.5" barrel

Including other peoples' guns I've shot, the most accurate centerfire I've ever shot is my 6" 586 with 125 gr. Sierra JHP, 9.0 gr. Unique and standard (not magnum) primer.

Most accurate rimfire--nothing stands out in my mind. I own M17's and M18 and they're all good.

I would have to say my S&W Model 67-1. The first time I shot it I was 5 outta 6 on a coke can appx 7-8 steps. Not bad for an old fart...

For me its my slightly worn S&W Model 10 HB 4" bbl. made 1969. Former Security force gun that was hardly ever fired. First time I shot it I was amazed. I'm at best an average marksman and that old model 10 kept hitting where I aimed.

I finally got out to about 75 feet, two handed, unsupported, and all 6 went into a pie plate, even with my old eyes. At that range it was probably the 148 wadcutters I was using that helped! But I was surprised. It shoots better than any of my new fancy Smiths with their adj. sights. Trigger is so smooth.
