The Most Famous Person You've Met

Tom Seleck (twice) while stationed at Sub Base Pearl Harbor in the mid 80's.

He was very nice, quite friendly and a gentleman.

I did'nt know he was a "gun guy" at the time. If I had, our
conversations would have been much more interesting.

Mike.

Forgot that I did meet Roy Jinks in Huntsville, Al. a few years ago. My wife met Hank Jr. a few years ago as well, but she hasn't had any use for him since. Shook hands with Reba McIntyre at the same event. George Jones used to live just around the corner from me in Florence, Alabama for a while when I was a kid growing up.

I would have really enjoyed meeting Buford Pusser and Ollie North.

J FRAME,

I met Ollie North at an NRA convention.I met Buford Pusser at a truck stop in Jacksonville Fla.(of all places). He was a friend of a friend of mine and we had coffee together. That was in the early 70s.

In 1978 I went to basic training at Ft. McClellan Alabama. For three months I slept 2 bunks away from Jeffery Dahmer. He was in my training squad. At that time he had already killed and buried his first victim under his porch near Akrin Ohio.

Probably the most well known person I've ever met was Carrol Shelby, he is a really down to earth guy. I also had the pleasure of meeting R Lee Emery who is also a stand up guy. Sam Donaldson was the north end of a southbound horse...

Jack Kemp's brother. Ok not so famous, but the closest I ever been.

Oh yea, James Garner, actor, and he was mad as hell at me and a foreman. Worst potty mouth I ever heard. Happened the morning of the first Bush inaugeration in '89. A few months before that in a road rage incident, someone beat the crap out of him on the I405 near LA. He used to raise hell about backup alarms on construction equipment. In real life, he's not the affable character he portrays on tv.

Was she pretty normal or was there any reason to think she would become so notorious?

She was voted class princess for homecoming (still have photos).
She was a normal teenager until her parents divorced. Then she went looking for a father figure..............

Hi Paladin,

Check this out:

One of his last public appearances was in connection with the inauguration of President Ronald Reagan on January 20, 1981. Omar Bradley died on April 8, 1981 in New York City of a cardiac arrhythmia, just a few minutes after receiving an award from the National Institute of Social Sciences. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, next to his two wives.

Best of luck,

You let Raquel Welch out of your Limo??!!!! You fool!!!!!

LOL

She was actually with another driver at an event that evening at Rockefeller center. She did not seem very approachable in any case. some "regular" citizens tried to say hello and she wasnt having it.

I'll tell you, the up close eyeball on her is just as good if not better than all the TV and movie appearances etched in my mind...huba huba! :)

I met Stevie wonder when he ran into me on the street. He apologized and said he didn't see where he was going !
I also met Elvis at a donut shop outside of Memphis .

The strang thing was I met them both on the same day ...........

thats cool

When I was working at the Limo company I had gotten off the road for a little while and tried dispatching and reservations.

Stevie Wonders people called. They wanted a white Limo. I asked "how would he know?"

LOL

Kevin Costner, we were in a scene together in one of his movies. A real great guy.

Met and talked with Newt Gingrich at a town hall meeting. Wish he was leading the country today.

Had lunch with Bob Hoover at an airshow.

Jeana Yeagar, Dick and Burt Rutan

Pappy Boington

Chuck Yeagar

John Glenn

Clarence "Kelly" Johnson

I was on a Golf team that won a charity golf tournment in Denver and our prize was flying to an away game on the airplane with the Denver Broncos. We went to Pittsburg and I sat next to Tony Dorsett who finished his career with them. He was a great guy and he was a real person and fun to ne around.

Roman Gabriel

Redd Foxx

Jay Leno called me at work a year or so ago about a Harley but I've never met him in person.

Sir, as a young PFC at Camp Pendleton, I briefly met Gen. O.P. Smith at a dog-and-pony show. He was the CG of the 1st MarDiv at the Chosin Reservoir.

In the mid-'90s I did some work on Kyle Petty's house on the Isle of Palms. He wasn't there, but his wife, Patty, and kids were. Very nice people.

As a reporter covering the Colorado legislature, I met a number of state senators and representatives, some of whom are now congressmen, but none famous outside their districts (and some maybe not even within). Mostly they seemed like good, conscientious people, which surprised me.

Covering the cable industry, I've met a number of high-level engineers and executive suite types, but again, nobody the average person would recognize.

Apparently I need to get out more.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Around 1982, I was walking around downtown Norfolk, Virginia and stepped out into the street, thinking the way was clear. Stepped directly in front of a Mercedes sedan, the driver slammed on brakes and avoided hitting me.

I was stunned to see looking through the windshield at me none other than Jacque Cousteau, famous under sea explorer, complete with knit watch cap! He looked at me for a second, then gave me the universal hand gesture saying, "Well, are you getting out of the way?" I stepped back on the sidewalk and he went on his way.

At this time, his ship "Calypso" was home ported in Norfolk. To think I was only steps away from making history, to be run over by Jacque Cousteau....
