The Most Famous Person You've Met

Ya know, I met a grumpy ole Cattleman at a gun show one time. OK, maybe more than once. He said his name was Dave. I knewd he wasn't a cowboy 'cause he had proper pants on, not jeans. Add that to Charlie Sherrill, Lee and a few other gun nuts. I prefer real people. Not the fakers you see on TV.

Like ol Burg,
I count those that know me by name and on sight as I know them.
And y'all know who you are, famous or not...
It's my gain in life to have met each of you.

I've met politicians and aristocrats a few.....
Just cause I may recall them, doesn't mean they can remember me.

Bobby Foster?
He's from here.
After boxing, he became a Deputed Sheriff.
Once I saw him out of County at the Valencia County Courthouse at nearby Los Lunas.
Everybody called him Champ.
So I say, hello Champ.
He just snarled at me!
So I guess I did I didn't actually meet him!

Ronald Reagan.

We took our infant daughter to a Reagan rally at the El Paso airport in 1980. She was fast asleep in her stroller. During his speech he said something like "There is the most adorable child fast asleep here in the front. I am not worried about the folks in the front, but I wonder about you at the back of the crowd." One of his aides came up to us afterwards and said that Governor Reagan would like to meet us. We were escorted into a private room, and he did the obligatory baby kiss, shook our hands, and inquired as to how we were doing and what we thought of the campaign. I just wish that I had a camera with me that day.

Famous or Infamous. I met Christine Blasey-Ford years ago. Let's not turn this into a political rant. My friend and his wife, Robert Wilke's niece, and I took my friends' two youngest sons to the beach. There was a group of people next to us. One young lady had been at Stanford. My friend had graduated from Stanford. My friend and his wife spent some hours talking with Christine. I spent some hours talking with Robert Wilke's niece, Laura. Laura had a lot of stories about her Uncle Bob. By the way, how many people here know who Robert Wilke is?

If it is Robert Wilke, the actor. I'd be more impressed than the Bimbo Christine Blasey-Ford.................

Uncle Bob was Robert Wilke, the actor. As for the other young woman, I have nothing to say, unless it is a PM.

In the late 1990's, when Rudy Giuliani was Mayor of NYC, he was walking with his detail on the sidewalk near Rockefeller Center at lunchtime. With my hands open I walked over and said, "I would like to congratulate you for a job well done."

He looked me in the eye, and with the appearance of complete sincerity he shook my hand and said, "I appreciate that very much."

Marty Robbins (Robertson) and Ben Hogan were lifetime friends of my Dad and Mom - I was a teenager before I realized they were famous - they were just nice people that I liked.

Shook hands with Strom Thurmond and actually had a conversation with Lindsay Graham. Other than that, the only other famous person I have seen up close was the wrestler Greg Valentine. I saw him at Disney World with his wife and kid, December 1980. Nice guy!
