I have been following the Automag forum since the new pistols
were announced* It seems that alot of folks that have sent in
their money, up to 2 or 3 years ago, still haven't gotten their guns
yet* I owned one of the TDE/High Standard marked one from the
1974 period of time* Mine was in 357AMP, and I made all the ammo for it* I had an FFL at that time for making ammunition, and my cousin was the money man, so to speak, and bought 8 of the new TDE Automags* These pistols had a lot of flaws, rough
chambers, etc* After I had done some gunsmithing on mine, it was alot better in functioning, but never perfect*
Now, what I'm wondering is if anyone on here has ordered one and received it, or are you still waiting, as a bunch seem to
be on the forum? Is the new Automag a scam, to get alot of
folks money for nothing in return, or is it on the level?

Not for me, it wasn't* I bought mine over the counter at
McBrides guns, in Austin, Texas* My cousin got his 8 or so
at a wholesaler in Houston, Texas* I paid the gigantic sum
of 375 dollars for mine* Now, the new company is asking
around 3800 dollars for them! Quite a price increase, huh?

Maybe not. You weren’t clear on what year you bought the Automag.
According to the inflation calculator, $750 in (1974) had the purchasing power of $4770 today.

If you look on the new Automag forum, you will see folks
that HAVE recieved them complaining about some of the
same problems we had in 1974 with them* Also LOTS of
complaints about not receiving their pistols after sending
in the FULL amount for their pistols! The head of the new
company is Patrick Henry! Maybe George Washington and
Thomas Jefferson are also employees there, too?
Some of these folks sent in the full amount, and YEARS
later have still not received their pistols! I smell a RAT!

If any of you remember, when IHMSA (metallic silhouette) started out, it was designed around the capabilities of the original Automag.
Guys like Lee Jurras, Kent Lomont, Elgin Gates, etc. wanted to shoot out to 500 yards. Yes, the original Automag design is capable of this level of accuracy.
But, owning one was likened to owning an expensive finicky sports car. Lots of performance, lots of flash,….all with a price.

Today, you can visit the Automag website:
Auto Mag Ltd., Co – Own the Experience, Feel the Power!

Or, you can visit their Youtube channel:
Auto Mag Ltd - YouTube

There’s some silly videos of guys jerking triggers and badly flinching, while pointing at large targets 20 feet away.
(It would seem either accuracy standards or marksmanship capabilities have changed somewhat.);)
Aside from that, you can get a glimpse of what they’re up to at their factory.

So, have a look and make your own judgement.

Oh, they do tell you this up front:

“Note: Unless otherwise stated, Auto Mag® Pistols are made to order and have a minimum of 6-9 month lead time due to industry wide supply chain issues.“

Your first post above stated people haven’t received their guns, and your second post stated some have received substandard product.

So several possibilities. The maker has a long backlog and it trying to catch up, and quality is suffering; there are happy customers that are not posting complaints; or it could be a failing business. In any case, best wishes to those who already paid but I wouldn’t volunteer to get in that line.

The New Auto Mag Company has had a lot of problems. Infighting among shareholders has the Company in Court and at a standstill right now.

They make a good product when they are producing guns.

These are mine and have all been made by the new Company.

Let's see here, I give you all my money for something that may take years to get if at all and you wonder if it's a scam? Have people in their quest for odd ball items really gone that insane? If I wanted something like a Shiloh Sharps rifle and I had to give them a DEPOSIT to get the order going that's one thing, but the entire finished price up front to order?? When I do something like that just pack me up for the nearest nut house cuz I have lost my sanity.

I would never pay for something fully up front and then wait years to get it, this just seem's like a bad idea. I purchased two FG42 rifles from SMG in Texas, at the time of the order I had to submit a $100 deposit on each. I waited approximately 18 month's for the first one to be shipped and just short of 3 year's for the second. SMG never requested any additional funds until the rifles were in the final stage of completion, each shipped about a month after the balance was sent. This is the way thing's should be done, and if for some reason the whole thing implodes you've only lost a minimal deposit.

I agree that a company that ask's for all the money up front is a company with no sound financial footing, nothing more than a Ponzi scheme. I have been the member of several forums for year's and have heard this same story many times, it never seem's to end well.

A friend of mine got one of the new ones. He sent them his money long ago, then waited about three years. Finally got it about a year ago. He hasn’t mentioned any problems with it and it really is a gorgeous piece. Not my cup-o-tea but still very nice.

Yes, consumer leverage with not paying before delivery.
