I'm going to Kansas tomorrow to hunt Pheasant, Quail, and Turkey but plan on seeing the movie sometime when I get back, I always enjoyed the original flick so I hope the remake will be good. It got me thinking about the great sea battle in WWII and I found this nice video documentary if any one is interested.

Review in this morning's paper wasn't great - 2 stars. Mentioned that it did not have the period "feel" and it seemed somewhat sympathetic toward the Japanese. Pretty good at the beginning and downhill afterward. As usual, I'll wait for it to show up at Redbox. Woody Harrelson as Nimitz???

Oh well, some hollywood movie critics probably don't even know who fought in WWII and who won.

It looks pretty horrible to me. Bad director, bad actors and bad CGI. Plus it is stuffing way too much into one movie. Pearl Harbor, the Doolittle Raid and Midway?

This is also coming from the director of such ahistorical movies like 10,000 BC, The Patriot, etc.

Maybe when it comes to streaming, but I won't lift a finger to see this movie.

Considering the source, Hollywood, I expect there to be a Liberal spin. I don't go to the movies anymore. F them.

That whole series is excellent! I've watched Midway twice and the battle of Leyte Gulf 3 times and likely to watch both again. All are kinda long @~ 1 1/2 hrs each, but the depth of the details are not glossed over.

Got youTube prime to skip the ads and once the limited length of the vids was lifted from the ~15 minutes it used to be. There are a LOT of really good documentarys on there now. BBC contributes a good amount also.

Really doubt that I'll be going to see the movie. Didn't see the first one either. Don't really need Hollywood's "vision" when you have a factual account for good or ill like the one posted above.

ask some of the kids today who were the major combatants in WWII, and see what kind of answers you get.

Yup, the millenial generation leadership has already told us what the WW2 of their generation is...fighting climate change. So to be generational compliant, there will recycling bins on the decks of the aircraft carriers, so the crashed planes can be disposed of properly...that way people watching the movie dont get offended on social media and boycott the movie theaters. I'm confident none of the service members from either side will be seen smoking, so at least we don't have to worry about that.
