What is the oldest gun you commonly shoot or hunt with? For me it is my Dad's old Remington Model 11-48 in 16 ga. followed by my Sweet Sixteen both from the Early or mid fifties. Many rabbits and birds killed by those two.

1947 pre 17. Goes with me every trip to the range. Targets or tin cans you can't beat it.

Key phrase in the OP is "commonly use".

I have older guns, but I "commonly use" a K-22, pre-18, made in 1952.

I carry it squirrel hunting and use it for really close shots at bushytails in lieu of my .22LR rifle. It also gets shot a lot at the range.

The oldest guns that I have and shoot are:

1961 E. German Makarov 9x18.
1969 Ruger Single Six. 22 LR. 5-1/2" barrel.
1970 Colt SAA 45 Colt 7-1/2" barrel.
1972 Smith & Wesson 28-2 Highway Patrolman 6" barrel.

All of my other guns are from the mid to late seventies to now.

The 28-2 is my favorite out of all of these.

1907 savage pistol. great little pistols and still chugging along!

2nd Model 44 Handejector, .44 Special manf 1916-20, I walk it once a month or better. Almost no finish left on it, but tight and shoots like a dream.

While I have older guns I think probley this octogon barreled winchester model 61 that my dad bought in the late 1930s.

1906 Swedish Mauser. Took a nice whitetail with it a couple of years ago.

Class III

Edit: Merril, can you post a close-up of what looks like a butt pad of your Winchester 61? I've never seen a 61 with a butt pad.

a remington mod 41 .22 rifle made in late 30s. inherited from my uncle who bought it new before he joined the navy in 39. it has taken a lot of rabbits, squirrels and assorted pests. lee

My H&R M-1 Garand, unfortuately my family was never into firearms,so I never had any old cool firearms passed on to me. But Im always Looking for something new old or cool to buy.

old stuff

For handgun would have to be an old S&W 1905 (third change) target from 1911

shotgun winchester model 12, 12 gauge from 1925 or for lighter stuff a model 12 in 20 gauge from 1916

on .22's for "plinking"/ squirrels an old winchester 1890 from 1929.
If it's something more "formal" then a winchester "pre" A model 52 from 1932

Guess you could say I like the more "vintage" firearms..Oh, and Winchesters

Hunting: Browning Auto Five shotgun made in Sept, 1953.
Daily carry: S&W 1911 made in 2009.
I shoot a lot of guns that were made in the 50's & 60's for fun.

The oldest two guns I have right now that I carry around or shoot with are both from the same year. A gun that I carry all the time is this 1950 vintage M & P.

The oldest gun I hunt with is my 1950 vintage Colt Woodsman that was my grandfather's. This little gun has accounted for alot of game in its life. I have taken squirrels, grouse, a couple of beaver and some other game just since I have owned it.

The oldest gun I ever did hunt with though was an 1892 vintage Model 1873 Winchester in .38-40. I wish I still owned that gun. The oldest gun I ever took any game with was my Winchester Model 54 bolt action in .30-30 from 1930. I killed my first deer with that gun.

I have a Springfield 1903, serial number 810,xxx which was produced about 1918. It was rebuilt during WWII where a new barrel (Sedgley 44) and a "scant" stock were installed after which it was apparently not heavily used. I bought it second-hand from a fellow who got it through the CMP. Excellent rifle. First range trip I fired 100 rds. of mixed commercial loads through it. Average of all groups fired was under 2 inches. The last five shots fired were 150 gr. Win. Silver-Tips... which went into a nice 1 inch group. Very cool. It is a very fine rifle.

I shoot a 1902 1st on a regular basis. One 22 rifle we shoot a lot is a first year production Winchester 67 my Great Grandfather bought new. the shotgun I hunt with is a Hunter Arms 16ga which is probably 1930s production.

I have a take down Winchester m55 in 30wcf made in the late twenties that I take deer hunting every year. Also have a third model hand ejector from 1929 that goes too the range with a 329pd. Then there is the Winchester take down m97 made in 1911 that went on special details before I retired.

If I remember correctly, my Krag was made in 1896. It qualifies as a non gun under Federal law by being an antique. .30-40 Krag ammo is a seasonal offering, but is still offered by Remington and Winchester.
