The original Sig-Sauer pistol...

Years ago I was in a local LGS, the owner knew me and always made me deals. There was a used Sig in the case and I bought it. At the time, I did not know the difference between a 228 and 229. What I bought was a 9mm 229 and it is a great gun. I waited too long when the P6's hit the market but I got a good one of those also. Just wish I had bought a dozen. I later ended up with a 220 in .45 but sold it. It was just too big for me, but it was accurate and reliable. I got a deal too good to pass up and bought a 225 later also.

I find the Sigs to be totally reliable, rugged and accurate. I still keep thinking about getting a 228 slide to put on my 229.

Love the knife. Who made it? Do you have a Sig 25 auto?

bc1023, that's a fine looking model SIG heel release P220. I think the slide is a big improvement over the earlier SIG P220/Browning BDA "Dolphin Nose" slides.

Wanted a P220 in .38 Super and .30 Luger, but held out for the "American mag release" (side) instead of the "European mag release" (heel). Never saw a .30 Luger with a side release. Was too late to grab the couple of .38 Super side releases a local dealer had at various times. (Rumor has it SIG might bring back a limited P220 in .38 Super, but I'm not holding my breath.)

My first SIG was a P226 9mm, which got traded off for a P220 .45. The P220 became the home protection handgun for the next 30 years. Recently bought a P227 with a rail for a light to replace it for that duty, but will still keep it.

Picked up a P225 earlier this year. Always wanted one. Very nice handgun. I hesitate to call it a compact, as it is only compact when compared to a P220. Decades ago it was considered a compact. Recoil on the P225 is actually a bit snappier than the P220 .45. The latter gives a gentle push, while the P225 has a sharper recoil impulse due to lighter weight.

That's a nice collection of SIGs you have. Mine is more modest. The only other SIG I have right now is a recent P226 with the E2 grip set up, rimfire slide, centerfire slide, and barrels for .22 LR, 9mm, .357 SIG and .40 S&W.

I'm hoping SIG comes out with the P225A1 in .357 SIG. I think it would be ideal for carry. Hopefully they will actually make a P220 in .38 Super. Waiting for an all black stainless DA/SA 10mm (the closest right now is a two-tone). I doubt it will ever happen, but a P220 in .22 TCM would be a lot of fun. I think SIG needs to offer more cartridge options instead of more cosmetic options.

I bought my P239 in 40 S&W and although a single stack it is fun to shoot and it prefers the 165 bullet weight. A few years later a buddy of mine mentioned that a certain dealer from whom we all bought our hard cast 45acp bullets from had sig's in 9mm for $300 w/tax about $330. I found out that these were West German Sig P6's. Came with two mags and although it was finish challenged on the top of the slide that was caused by the holster it was issued with. I met a gent on the gunboards forum and I mentioned I had a P6. Then he told me look on the slide for the police department markings. Which my pistol had. I asked about the holsters. I was told those AKAH holsters were very expensive and made out of good materials. I confess to going a little nuts with the P6. There were about 4 or so different holsters, single cell mag pouches and I managed to pick up a few spare mags. That P6 out shoots my Beretta92FS. So far no failures of any kind. Definitely got my money's worth. Frank
