The Penn is mightier than the gun ...

He was really good in Bad Boys. Oh, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I don't believe I've seen any other of his films.

What a fool... given his romantic history, the girlfriend probably won't last as long as the guns would have. According to Wikipedia, the guy is even an Ambassador at Large for Haiti. You just can't make that up...

So one liberal flake convinced another liberal flake to do something liberals would rather have us all do. I wonder why the reporter didn't have the guts to ask Sean Penn or Charlize Theron how many movies both have been in that had guns in them that they profited from.

Like, The Thin Red Line, Carlito's Way, Gangster Squad, and Colors, or in the case of Charlize Theron, I would have asked, "So your mother used a gun to save her life from abuse and possibly yours, and you would deprive Americans of that right?"

I would also have asked Ms. Theron how many movies had guns in them that she made money from, like the upcoming Mad Max movie, The Road, Hancock, Aeon Flux, Monster, and Reindeer Games.

Personally I am sick and tired of these Pius, pompous over inflated and overpaid egotistical celebrities telling me what we should not do saying how guns are bad etc when at the same time they have them in their movies and make money off of them. From now on when these a-list a-holes decide they want to make a movie, it should be set sometime before 1700, a comedy, a musical or something that would have nothing resembling a firearm in it and I wish one reporter would have had the stones to say something to these arrogant dolts when they suggest that guns are bad.

It is a matter of public record in South Africa that Greta Theron (Charlize's mother) shot her husband to prevent him from killing her and Charlize. I think she shot through a bedroom door that he was trying to break down while threatening them. He had a long record of violence and (I think) a drinking problem. I never read which gun she used. The news reports just described it as a pistol. The shooting was ruled justifiable homicide

Yes, she is a liberal hypocrite. Penn is a mess, and also has a rep as a hothead.

The reporter didn't challenge them about Penn's limitations on gun ownership, given his criminal record and question her about her position because the entire purpose of the article was probably to promote gun control. And to get both stars some publicity!

Many other white South Africans do not share Charlize's view of guns. She's more of a Hollywood celeb now than she is the girl who grew up in the Transvaal. She is a superb actress who deserved her Academy Award for Best Actress. But that does not qualify her to comment on guns.

I'm not sure what purpose Penn has. He's even ugly. At least, that can't be said of Charlize...

So...........that's where Biden learned to shoot. Interesting.

I think you're confusing Joe Biden with a South African athelte, a runner with false legs. He popped his main squeeze, a hot model, Reeva Steenkamp, through a bathroom door after allegedy whamming her with a cricket bat. Used a make and model of 9mm not mentioned in the media. I can't offhand think of his name, but know it. Some Olympics fan here can post it.* The case hasn't yet been tried. Both victim and slayer are Afrikaans-speaking, but bilingual. (Theron is also Afrikaans, as is VS model Candice Swanepoel. Neither is qalified to comment on gun control, although the man who shot Steenkamp owned several guns and had applied for licensing to buy more. The media tried to make that seem sinister.)

Biden said to take a double barrelled shotgun outside and fire into the air to scare off home invaders.

A new book by former Defense Secry. Robert Gates discusses the validity of Joe Biden's decisions, but it can't be discussed here, due to the ban on politics. But I'm gonna read it.

* Just remembered his name: Oscar Pistorious

Melting guns

I. feel sad for the guns, but I feel Penn shouldn't have guns. As for Charlize I might let her melt my ice cream but not my Smiths.

Yes, he did, that's true.

But, he also said this a few days after the quote you cite............

Vice President Joe Biden told Field & Stream magazine in an interview published Monday, "[if] you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door."

Biden Advises Shooting Shotgun Through Door - US News and World Report

......which is what I was referencing.

I seriously doubt that Charlize would be willing do all the things that it would take to get me to melt down my Smiths.

But if she were that crazy, my Smiths can all be replaced.

Like most Hollywood types (except Sip, of course:)) she has the attention span of a flea. She would soon lose interest in you and your Smiths would still be gone.

I think that I read that he will be turning 65 guns into "art". I pledge to buy at least one gun this year which will remain servicable and un-artified for the remainder of my lifetime. My son pledges to do the same after I'm gone. In the interest of keeping the earth spinning freely on it's axis, how about 64 more members to make this same pledge counterbalance Mr. Penn's reckless stupidity until long after he and his soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend are dead and gone?

Both are on my Boycott List. On another board I read the guns are to be melted into a sculpture, winning bid-by another Gliberal-was $1.4M.

Well friends that´s hollywood!
What would we expect from them? Good sense, honesty and a sincere concern for people out there who someday may need to defend themselves with firearms?
These people live in a kind of bubble with their equals, and see or worry about nothing, except of course, fame and fortune.
Regards, Ray

I liked this part.

>"Being provoked by this aforementioned strong woman and considering how liberating of bulls**t and ugliness it would be not only get rid of the guns I have in the continental United States but also to destroy them,<
(second paragraph from the bottom)

Logically, he being "rich famous movie star", he has homes all over the world. And the guns he has OUTSIDE the US, he's gonna keep.

I wouldnt waste time or money on her and thanks to her. Too many available nice ladies still out there.

Charlize is no dummy. I think she's quite bright, but intensely self serving, and she knows which way the wind blows in Hollywood, although I sense in her attitude in interviews that she knows very well how hypocritical and plastic it is.

She is aggessive and is astrologically a Leo, with a strong ego. She likes to shock people, too. I admire her looks, but there are other women I'd get along better with.

She made a point of being seen with Nelson Mandela before his prolonged home confinement (due to illness) prior to his recent death. Maybe I'm being cynical, but I think this was largely to court liberal favor to further her career and fame.

She is beautiful, articulate, and aggressive. I hope she doesn't make a career out of promoting gun control. Too many would be seduced by her comments.

BTW, she learned to do a US accent and vastly expanded her English vocabulary by watching US TV. (I heard her say so in an interview on TV.)

Sean Penn seems a poor match for Theron. I suspect that she's using him for publicity and that their affair will be fairly short-lived. This is, of course, personal speculation based on what I've seen of her public life and her astrological sign. That's as close as I'm apt to get to her, and I don't regret it. I think that like the Zambezi River shark, she's a man-eater. :D (That shark is basically just the Bull Shark, C. leucas, but it ranges far up South African rivers. TV angler Jeremy Wade caught one in excess of 13 feet in a S. African river. The Bull Shark has one of the highest levels of testosterone of any known animal, and is considered to be very dangerous to humans.

Hmmm...how long has it been since our last shark thread?

"Cowardly killing machines." I like the line. Evidence of long deep thought & feelings. He couldn't possibly just be repeating talking points he's been coached on. Naa, no way.

My wife's good friend Niki directed Charlize in "north Country." I met her at a party at niki's house and I have to say, she is a friendly, down to earth gal. The fact she doesn't like guns doesn't bother me...just like it doesn't bother me that all my wife's friends don't like them either...we are all products of our upbringing and environment. And lucky for me, my wife respects my interest in guns. And she likes paintings more than sculptures so I think I'm pretty safe.

lets roll our eyes and snort derisively ,check .
lets forget the has-beens and wannabes ,check.
lets all go out and buy more guns ,check:)
id like to see what guns he destroyed though , kinda like a carwreck, i just gotta sneak a peak as im going by .cant help it ,im a little morbid.:)

I think it would be supremely funny for Penn to be arrested for admitting that he has guns in violation of the law. (Of course that won't happen, but it would be hilarious.)

Like most other Hollyweird relationships, this one will be over once the paparazzi find new "celebs" to photograph and the media spotlight shifts to someone else....unless they are one or both involved in battery on each other.

I think Penn is a good actor...as is Theron...but simply because they are both good actors doesn't mean they have brains, morals, common sense, or decency. In fact, in Hollyweird, that would make them a rarity if they did!

HUH? An attractive young woman causing a middle-aged man to say and do things that make him look foolish? Really?!? And in Hollyweird no less. Who'd've ever thunk it?
