The Problem with Prediction

I am kind of torn about capital punishment - having a murderer spend decades and decades without hope of anything but dying inside the joint seems really appropriate. On the other hand, why subject corrections staff and other prisoners to a dangerous swine?
And while spending an enormous amount of taxpayer’s money to keep him alive in prison.

I think a lot of district attorneys believe getting a conviction is more important than getting a bad guy sentenced to execution, even if it means negotiating a plea bargain to a lesser charge. And some DAs are simply opposed to capital punishment, regardless of the severity of the crime. The DA in liberal Dallas County got a conviction of a puke who had murdered 18 elderly women in nursing homes so he could steal their jewelry. The DA could have sought a well-deserved and easily achieved death penalty, but since that was against the his principles, the criminal got life instead. I had hopes that the DA in neighboring ultra-conservative Collin County, where a few of the murders occurred, would then prosecute and get a death penalty conviction. But he refused, because he wanted to save taxpayers' money. Only in Texas could liberal and conservative DAs agree to spare an 18-time murderer of elderly women from execution.

Ah, but there's good news nevertheless. The convicted puke was such a hideous individual that he was killed by a fellow prisoner almost immediately after entering prison. I'm sure the Dallas DA ended up crying uncontrollably when he found out that the beautiful soul  whose life he had tried so hard to save had been executed anyway. And the Collin County DA could exult that he didn't have to spend taxpayers' money after all.

Bottom line, we got a happy ending, and that's what counts.

Left of Bang is a very good book. They also have a website with more information. The major problem being that one has to pay attention to what's going on in the world. All the training and gear in the world is useless if you're taken by surprise.

Pedophile, fired from multiple school districts, hired on yet again. This is the story, and the filthy shame, in every school district in the US. This scum should long ago have been locked up with his "betters", who at least know how to cure sickos like him...

Is there a link to reports on any pedo complaints against the murderer? I haven't been able to find any.

I think AR still snuffs murderers.
The problem we have in this country is punishment. It will take 20 Years to execute this Guy. When you add up all the costs of the court cases Life in Prison will still be cheaper. By the time an execution is carried out the public has forgotten what the perp did. I do not want to rush to judgement and punish an innocent man but when you have him dead to rights carry out the execution promptly!

People flip out and kill people. Anyone is capable of murder under the right set of circumstances. We are a violent species, and it will probably be the death of us.
Some killings are justified. Some are necessary. Some are criminal acts. All are violent, even the ones that are non-grisly, like the deliberate overdose/hot shot nursing home or hospital ones.
At least Kervorkian let the soon-to-be-departed make their own choice.
Whatever lay ahead for humanity, I would hope for a natural catastrophe, like an asteroid strike. That would suit me fine. I would prefer to be at ground zero if at all possible. You know, get a lawn chair, something to eat & drink, and hang out for the big one. Maybe the Supreme Power has a plan for a Great Reset before we can destroy ourselves. Like a restart. We can hope, I s'pose.
