The PTR 9CT As Truck Pistol, And Current Brace Rulings?

I really like the HK delayed rollers, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to finally make the expensive order for a PTR MP5 clone. I've carried many truck guns, but in my cars would prefer something a bit shorter from time to time.

Has anyone had any experience with this weapon yet? It is it up to PTR's HK91 clone quality, is it a worthy and reliable weapon for self defense? Is it geared more towards the increased pressure of the use of cans, or will it run just fine on lower power ammunition?

Since where I live, shooting varmits is far more realistic than using it for self defense, what IS the ATF's current rulings and statements on pistol braces? The ability to brace the weapon and achieve good accuracy is rather important if I'm trying to knick that racoon or skunk I've been after for a while when I drive back into the yard.

New brace rules are rolling out in probably August of this year. They are going to significantly roll back availability of braces and practically outlaw most braces now available. I'd be reluctant to purchase any braced pistols right now.

I have several braced pistols and I'll probably have to reconfigure them to meet the new rules. Rules, not laws, that were never voted on or passed by the legislature. Got to love the fed boys. Banning millions of legally owned items with the stroke of a pen.

Yes, the whole thing is ridiculous. I was hoping that we were going to see some progress in at least some amount with the NFA, hoping that we could at least see suppressors and SBR's removed. I suppose the allowance of short shotguns like the Shockwave onto the market was our only victory?

The ambiguous nature of arm braces and SBR's and the whole lot is troublesome, as you point out. At least banning them or making statements early on sets the law or regulation straight so people can comply. Waiting several years to change the rules and entrapping people is always wrong.

If I get a pistol brace, and they make them illegal to use with pistols, I can at least keep it as an accessory for another H&K clone legally and not have to throw it away, I guess.

I've always seen braced "pistols" as a great way to have fun with something while I'm waiting for a stamp. I'm amazed it took this long for something to happen, especially as we moved from the sig brace to some of the newer, strapless, multi position "totally not a stock I swear" braces.

The NFA is a classist infringement of our rights and should be abolished, but braces were maybe the most obvious "I'm not touching you" product out there, poking an arbitrary and capricious agency who is absolutely not our friend. It sucks but short of repealing the NFA this was going to be the outcome.

That's the funny part about the whole pistol brace thing.

The NFA was a run around the 2nd Amendment "because this isn't a gun control act, just a tax act, ha ha". A snarky, fake way of doing things.

So, gun manufacturers long after the fact have created arm braces as a run around the NFA. "its an arm brace,not a stock, ha ha". A snarky, fake way of doing things.

So, the irony is strong. One poor excuse for a run around of something else that exists with a very poor excuse to run around the Constitution. Comedic in a way.

As an old ultra conservative, I'm the first to point out that such arm braces seem like a run around the NFA and seem to becoming more and more brazenly something that isn't just an arm brace. Then again, the current system is such a joke, and I'm exhausted, and I just don't care anymore.

So, as long as I can legally use an arm brace, I guess I will. I'll keep my eye out and when things change, I'll take it off.

Depends what day you ask! Legal or illegal it's way better to stay away from that highly controversial contraption and just practice more with your pistol - just my opinion.

If you really need a varmint getter, a short Carbine or survival type AR-7 or Henry might be the ticket.

In fact we were within a whisker of rolling back several NFA regulations when, lo and behold, a mass shooting event occurred with apparently no motive and no witnesses.

Our legal system was not intended to define what is legal and what is not, only what is specifically illegal. If lawmakers write illogical, arbitrary laws, then create an administrative state to interpret them without oversight; it is perfectly reasonable that we should find every possible loophole and workaround.
