The rarest S&W.....

S&W Keeper. You mean one like this old crappy 1985 Ashland run? Hestons quote directly applies to this one.

Here's a pair of .22 snubbys a M63 and a M651. I don't believe the M63 is that rare, but it sure commands a premium price, as far as the M651 is concerned I have yet to see another for sale, although there was a member here, who found one a while back.

These are pretty uncommon; reported to be 50 in the US with the rest (don't know how many) sent to Germany. It is a great shooter!

These guns listed and shown in this thread are very lust inspiring. My rarest S&W would most likely be my 3-inch Model 610 from Lew Horton (1 of 300). Second would likely be my NIB 29-5 Classic DX:

I've only seen a few 8-3/8 inch 29 Classic DXs. Anyone else on this forum got one?

I hope I didn't miss it in this thread, but what about the mythical 28-1. Were any actually manufactured?

Here's a photo of Mike Priwer's M73:

The suggestion by KurtC on the fixed sight M25 (Mountain Gun barrel profile) is pretty good, I lust after this gun:

My own humble suggestion if this M627 Hunter with 8 inch barrel, supposedly only 2 made, but I've only seen one....

Here's a couple more hard to find - not made in much quantity models, also on the list:

You didn't say what that last one was, SmithNut.
How about those grips?

When I bought this 2.5 inch 629-6 a couple of years ago, the dealer said it was one of a batch of only 200 made special for some distributor. I don't know if this is true or not, but it is the only fixed sight 629 I've ever seen. The dealer had three of them. Does anyone know what distributor this model was made for, and how many were actually made?

Depending upon whether my concern is two-legged critters or four-legged critters, I carry this with either Blazer .44 Specials with the 200 grain Gold Dot, or Federal Castcore 300 grain lead flatpoints. It kicks a lot with the 300 grain bullets, but it is a lot more manageable than a Model 329.

whelenshooter,
Those were made for Camfour. They were also made in the engineering change preceeding yours, basically same gun but without the lock.
Can't help on the total quantity, there have been lots of reports on the 200 number but I can't tell if that was for the -5 or -6 version or both combined.

Bud,
Sorry for the delay in responding, work is getting in the way of my fun....

That last gun is one of the 4" Roper M14-6 guns. The grips are Spegels, he makes a special set that he calls "One in a Thousand", for every 1000 pair of grips he makes, he'll make a pair like this, the wood is American Black Walnut that he harvests from his property. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time 4-5 years back and he offered this pair to me.

Smithnut,
Thanks for the information on my 629!

bdGreen,
A good friend of mine had one of those 617s without the underlug, but his grandson stole it and sold it for drugs. He had been making excuses for his grandson for years, but that was the final straw that made him see his grandson for who he was. Too bad the gun couldn't be recovered, however. I lusted over it badly and looked hard for another for myself, but could never find one.

Here's my Fixed Sighted Model 19-3 that is "One of Fifty":

I also have a Model 10-5 that was supposed to have gone to the Shah of Iran in '69 but was shipped by mistake to a Stateside Distributor. I've been looking for a lot of Years and have never seen another like it. The 3rd Edition of the SCSW shows a Factory supplied picture. I do understand from a very good source that a number of Model 36s were also marked in Arabic on the Sideplate in the same manner for the same purpose but I've never seen one of those either.

BigHammer
Not to burst your bubble but there were 2000 of the 7 1/2" S&W 500's made in that configuration. It was the 6 1/2" PC model with the unfluted cylinder that they only made 500 of.

I especially like MeAmMe's M627 Hunter with the 8" barrel.

There are some mighty fine looking guns here people. Mighty fine!
