Well, thanks to fellow member Boone3380 I've added another one to the heard. The J frame Model 63, has the magna grips but the target grips came along on the deal and they really help get a handle on this smaller frame.

The double action feels a bit stiff compared to the 66's, is that normal or do I just need to see if she's gummed up inside? But we will have to see how she does out at the range. Nice little gun, great shape and not abused, very pleased - oh, sorry no box or papers - which means no hard feelings shooting it.

Did also stumble into a set of Combat grips for a SB J frame before I even had a J frame. The current grips feel great, should I try the Combats? Only problem as you can see is if I don't like them - poof goes some value. Thoughts? Also found the 66 no dash a set slightly used for $25 in a pawn shop and I am warming up to those.

The coil spring action in your 63 will always be heavier than the leaf springs in the K, L and Ns.

That's a beautiful layout. My wife's 63 was purchased as a practice gun for her 67, but she still shoots the .38 more.

Makes perfect sense - yep the K's are just about perfect. I would think we too will shoot the 66's more than the J frame, but hopefully this will get The Bride past the recoil concern easily moving up.

Yep, nice guns all the way around. Need to improve my photo skills though.

The combat grips vs. the target grips are a personal thing. Only you can determine which one is best for you. Just because you take the grips out of the wrapper doesn't reduce the value any. Putting them on the gun doesn't reduce the value, but carrying them and getting finish wear or marks on them will. Try them, it's the only way you will know.
