I was musing today on what gun I would pick as the world's ugliest. My vote would have to go to the Japanese type 94 Nambu pistol, made during WWII. Not only ugly but dangerous in that it could be fired just by pressing the visible sear on its left side.

I have one in my collection as a negative example of a firearm!

Don't you agree?

Yeah, they are a homely little thing. I had a couple years ago when I was heavy onto collecting military weapons. Even shot them a bit, grip is a bit small and oddly shaped but they functioned fine with my handloads. That exposed sear bar is an odd feature. Though the safety does block it from pivoting out to fire as I remember. It was more compact than the other Japanese service pistol (the Type 14) or the older Nambu designs & the Type 26 revolver. Made it a little more suitable for aircrews, tank crews etc.

At one time I had an extensive collection of pre-war American made pocket pistols, but sold off most of them. I kept the .32 Infallible mainly because it was so unusual. I have fired it, even though most articles about it advise against that.

I think this Croatian monstrosity gives the Type 94 a run for its money.
