Greetings friends and fellow Smithophiles.

I seem to have become enamored with round butt Smith revolvers.
And of course that means grips ' or Stocks' to go with them.

When I paid $325. for a pair of K round Ivory grips in June I went
beyond what I ever expected to.

So, I wanted to create a picture thread where we All could display our
prized K and L frame round butt grips.

Post as you will, questions and comments are always welcome.

Good luck,
Allen Frame

The K magna Elephant Ivory found at the S&W.C.A. meeting in June.

Very difficult to photograph and get the character of the ivory.

Sperm Whale tooth created by Patrick Grashorn for me in 2008.
Still a work in progress.

Oyster shell ( or Pearl ) found at a local show.
Another difficult one to photograph and capture the character.

Old Tylers' Tru-Fit Butterscotch Micarta. These were crafted proud all around and meant
to be fit to your particular gun.
These have not been modified since Melvin made them many years ago.

Notice how they change color depending on the lighting.

Eagle Sambar Stag from India. Often one panel has more 'figuring' than the other.

They really dress up a plain-jane old model 65.

Craig Spegel Checkered Cocobolo boot grips. I absolutely love these.
They look like snake skin in person.

K square target grips resurrected into K smooth targets.

Herrets checkered walnut. A full size grip for those with big hands.

Factory K round ' target' stocks. As came originally on this model 547.

2 different pair of K-L frame fingergroove combats.
Both of Goncalo Alves wood.
These can be found with more pronounced fingergrooves and less for a smaller overall profile.

Thanks, Allen. Awesome thread as usual.
I have several K Frames, but only one round butt, a 2-1/2" 66-2. It still has the original stocks on it.

OK, I'll play with a couple of pics but they are all S&W factory grips.

PB280003.jpg

Model 18-3 with very dark Targets, probably refinished before I got it

PB280003-1.jpg

Model 67 no-dash with original Magnas.

P8090009.jpg

Model 586 no-dash with original Targets.

How About Some NIB S&W Combats?

Guys, great grips on great guns. I know my Uncle Mike's rubber combats will make some of you gag a little. But I hope the genuine S&W combats, still new in the package, will make up for it. They stay in my safe, next to the gun, a M65-5 with a 3" barrel. I never had the heart to open the grips. They have very nice figure and both sides match perfectly (from what I can see through the plastic). I was going to teflon coat the revo, keeping the trigger, hammer and release silver, and install the wooden combats some day. That was the original plan, but honestly, sometimes I get as much joy just looking at the grips in their original package. As you know, it's very difficult to come across genuine S&W combats still in brand new condition. I was lucky enough to find these in with a bunch of other grips in a mom & pop place in the northern tier of PA. I love stopping in places like that. You never know what you will find.

You know, after I posted a few pics, I realized this thread is about ROUND-BUTT models! Duh ! Anyway, a great set of pics of these old grips and the combats are a great looking set !

Allen-frame... as always, thanks for sharing those stunning round butt revolvers and grips. The photos are amazing as well. Thanks to you and others that have posted pics on other threads on these fine firearms, I'm afraid I've become addicted to round butts and 3" barrels. It's a tough life, but someone has to pick up the torch and carry on.

Blessings,
Hog

Firewood

I am partial to these, most are L's and K's with a couple of N's thrown in for good measure.....

Posted before, but what the hell.....
