Something special about a blue gun and white/stag grips is very appealing but as has been stated, the originals will be provenance for any future sale.

With all due respect to Art Doc, he couldn't have been more wrong. The Model 58 was created for a simple reason. A serious firearm with a serious cartridge. The .41 Magnum will do anything the .44 Magnum will do but faster. The difference in diameter of the bullets is 0.019". The 58 is a stripped down monster. You will never be under gunned with it and you know it is big enough to do the job. It's no heavier to carry than a Model 28 or 29. Extra rounds are lighter than the .44 and the round is more powerful than the .357. Plus it is beautiful. What's not to love?

Unusual additions are on your Mod. 13 . Both of the Targets … hammer & trigger, have been installed , and most likely before you … as you received it.
My Mod. 58 has the short ( squared edge) hammer but the wide target trigger was added before my purchase of it.
Personal preference, I suppose.

Never the less, in today's world of S&Ws any model 58 and to include model 13s now are a welcome addition to anyone's collection. Congratulations.

^^^^This. My 58 has TT and TH that were added sometime between 1967 and when the old guy I bought it from got it in the '70s. Only my letter told me they weren't original (my friend who sold it to me thought they were, as the guy he bought it from was not a 'gun guy') - I had believed they were, as the revolver is close to perfect with a minor scratch.

You are correct. In fact, the 13 had an even wider target trigger when I picked it up that someone had modified (see photo). I replaced it with what was on hand, but it works well and shoots great. Additionally the 13 had too light a mainspring installed as most cartridges did not fire and had a small dimple in the primer. I swapped it out for a stock spring and it works as designed now.

The Model 58 came as you see it from a collector's estate sale; never fired outside the factory. I will change that.

Wow...bubba strikes again!

I carried an n frame in uniform for 47 years. If an n frame is too big or too heavy for you, you might need to be in a different line of work. My late wife was an officer for 50 years but she loved her 3 inch model 13. She could shoot my 629 and my 500 very well though even with her tiny hands and fingers. I never had to shoot anyone twice with a 44 Magnum. Cannot say the same for 45 ACP. Never shot anyone with a 41.

Tex,

I have heard similar sentiments from other LEO types over the years.

I have 1st hand information that the 41 & 44 performed very well in actual deadly force encounters within the LE community.

I can say for certain that it is good medicine for feral porcine and the like.

47 years is quite a career, was it all in TX?
