A month or so ago, my fiancé and I were just relaxing on the couch surfing the web and watching tv after we both got off work. I was cruising through the rather boring flips of Facebook when I stumbled across an ad that read, "The Natural State Wedding Sweepstakes." I thought for a minute and thought, what the heck, I'll try. Told my fiancé that I submitted an entry to the sweepstakes and she should do the same to slightly increase our chances.
A few weeks passed and we were at the table deciding some really good Pinterest ideas on how to make the dollar stretch in our super budget savvy wedding quest. We decided on a few things and bought some local stuff to use in our wedding. I began to think about the entries we submitted and said, "It would be awesome to win that thing of Facebook and have a lot of help in financing the wedding as well as have a heck of a place to get married at and tell the future kids and grands." We sat and talked about the possibilities and thought about how cool it would be and quickly changed the subject. Ha. Our luck right? We would never win.
Two days ago, I received a call from Little Rock while I was sleeping in the morning. I didn't answer. Woke up pretty late because I was getting turned around to graveyard shift and checked my phone. I had a voicemail that rang in the essence of, "Please call "me" back, we have some great news to talk about!" I kinda figured a telemarketer had finally got around to my number and brushed it off. About 10:30a the same number called back and I answered. After I got off the phone, my heart skipped a beat and I muttered, "Did that lady really just say I won the sweepstakes?" "Naw!" I called back and told her to run that by me again and behold! I won!
I simmered for a bit and tried to collect my thoughts. Moreso after a couple words of disbelief. It started to sink in and I decided to go and tell my fiancé, who was at work, that I had won a dream wedding. I got to her work and let her hear the voicemail and asked her if It rang any bells. She didn't recall, so I showed her the website entry and refreshed her memory. She quickly belted out, "You won!" In the company of a few customers at the local jewelry store where she works. She put her hands over her face and started crying in disbelief. All of the owners gathered around and celebrated a bit with us and congratulated us. They had sponsored earlier a billboard in which I chose to use as a proposal to my fiancé.
It all seemed to be falling into place. I found a perfect mate, won an iPad in an arcade machine for $3, did a successful billboard proposal, which made me the envy of the town, and now I won a wedding sweepstakes? Haha. I'm blessed for sure. I'm very happy at the moment and I felt I should share my excitement.
Things always happen for a reason. I have included a few photos to give a picture for your thoughts and where we are having our wedding. It will be at the world famous Thorncrown chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas among the Ozarks.
