...we're only halfway done! Tomorrow, they're calling for -15 actual [not windchill]. Looks like around here the total snowfall for this storm will be about 16 inches or so.

Been a hit with the neighbors, though. Got the John Deere out with the snow blower and rescued the poor shovelers who were trying to keep up with the snow.

Just got in from phase one of snow removal, the rest will wait til the morning. Got a scalding hot cup of coffee with a shot of Kahlua in it, I'm settling in to read some more "Horatio Hornblower" books, and looking forward to some more football on TV.

Not a bad day!

Len

PS...can anyone tell me why even old dogs act like puppies whenever they get to romp in new snow? The boys were out while I finished the walk, and a 12 and 14 year old lab acted like it was canine Christmas!

I'm in west central indiana, I just measured 9 1/2" since early this morning.
I've been on the 4 wheeler cleaning my 1/4 mile long driveway 3 times today trying to stay ahead of the very wet snow. It looks to be almost over for us,
Now comes the 15-25 mph winds and a projected low of minus 13.
My work just called, I get to stay home tomorrow. Good thing I've reloading to keep me busy, if the power stays on.
Stay warm and safe everybody!!!!

A friend of mine lives in Muncie. As of a couple of hours ago he reported 3" on the ground with more to come. The high temp for tomorrow is supposed to be -12.

Eastern MA is due to get rain tonight, tomorrow, and tomorrow evening with temps in the 40s. Tuesday, we get the cold front that you folks are getting now. That will make for fun driving.

Here in St. Louis County we have about 7" and still falling. I'm not too worried about the snow, it's the 10 below zero temps predicted for tonight. Tomorrows predicted high is 2 degrees.

Where you at? Just measured 5 1/2" of the white **** here around GR. I think we got more than that as I've shoveled 3x since last night and each time was about 3".

We're right in the middle of the worst of it. North of Clarkston. It's actually picked up and is snowing harder this evening than the last couple of days.

Snow day tomorrow, too!

Stay safe, warm and inside everyone!

I can happily report that down here on the coast we did not get any of that nasty, awful and unnatural white stuff, and we don't expect to get any either.

Weather reports project 29 tonight and 23 tomorrow night. I have seen years with no freezing. We had snow here a few years ago. It would not surprise me to see some here this year.

So far we up here in the Great NorthWET haven't had much. Even over here on the east side, where there is usually 6-8 inches on the ground by now, we've been having balmy days in the high 30's and low 40's.

You know you're using an out-dated term, right? It isn't Global Warming any more. They can't keep screaming about GLOBAL warming because on average the global temperatures aren't going up as predicted. Now they refer to it as Climate Change. Funny thing is, the same groups (and even some noteworthy individuals) who are screaming about Climate Change were screaming about Global Warming 20 years ago. What's really curious is that some of the same ones who were screaming Global Warming 20 years ago were predicting that we were headed into the next Ice Age 40 years ago when I was a kid in grade school.

In all 3 cases, impending Ice Age, Global Warming, and now Climate Change, the same people were blaming the same cause - human activity/pollution. Interesting, eh? Wonder why that is?

Sorry to hijack. Your thread title just struck a chord with me...

I'm just south of you, off of Cass Lake. I just finished phase two...

Phase one started before noon when I cleared about 6" of heavy wet snow from the drive. The plows went through and left a mountain at the base of everyone's driveway. I've got the baddest snowblower on the block, so I moved mountains for my neighbors. This is me doing a second clean-up pass before taking a break. Another couple inches had fallen in about two hours.

I figured I better hit it again before it froze solid, so I just finished clearing it again. I'm getting too old for this!

Hi, Len.

At least the temperature has stayed "moderate" so far here. Mid 20's. (East of Clarkston.) About 11" of snow today by the time I came in from digging out the second time around 4:30 PM, but it looks like it was at least another 4" by 9 PM, and it's still coming down like crazy. Predictions have the temperature getting down close to zero tonight.

I'm HOPING for some wind! The snow has been collecting on the branches of the huge white pine overhanging the garage, weighing them down, and I'm afraid that either branches or the whole tree will come down. In this almost wind-free storm the snow just stays on the branches, but it doesn't take much to knock it off. I'm tempted to take out one of the shotguns, but in addition to possibly causing more damage, we're not supposed to be shooting in this neighborhood any more.

Gonna be fun round here in the am, looks like freezing rain up to this point which will make for no end to the fun trying to clea of any snow that lands on top of it. Good news is I work at home and the kid's school is closed bad news is the wife works Monday mornings so I'll be out there anyway.

With temps like that, not even that Salsa Verde would help. Stay warm my friend. Oh and, before I forget again, thank you very much for that DvD. I got it in yesterday and meant to tell you, but forgot after about a 3 & 1/2 hour chat with a friend in North Carolina.

We're a little east of G.R. and out in the country and it looks like it will take 4 wheel drive to get to the main road, We plowed out last night and you would never know it. Sucks going to work in this **** knowing old Mr. Fat boy is laying in bed rolled up in all that global warming money staying nice and warm.

Base of the Cascades on the eastside. Only one snow storm (really, just flurries). All melted. Got rain right about Christmas (rain?, in December?). Backyard is dry of snow and clear (normally covered from Thanksgiving to Easter). Temps up to the 40's last week. Above freezing yesterday. Geese have hung around all winter instead of migrating south.

Average temps for the first two weeks of January are in the single digits (days) with3-4 days below zero.. It only got down to 19 F last night.

VERY definitely warmer here!

I'm down south in here in Tennessee and it's 7 degrees. Where is Al Gore when you need hin?

They should have stuck with the coming ice age they were pushing in the early 70's. They would have been right.

I restored this over the summer, and have not had a flake to move since:

Do you think the flames chase away the snow?
