What is the weirdest thing you have found in a place it does not belong? I'm thinking largely of the natural world but manmade stuff reaches odd places, too. I was prompted to think about this by a BBC news article where a volunteer litter crew found an octopus on a hilltop in the English Lake District. The sea is a about 15-20 miles away as the crow flies.

Actually, before reading the article--I was thinking this was going to be one of those Hoarders type threads--meaning-about sloppy housekeepers. :D :D

One night my three kids and I were driving home to our acreage. Stopped at a light and my oldest daughter said "hey, look, a pig". Standing there on the shoulder was a massive porker. We went home, just a short distance away, and I told Missus P&R Fan, who is a sucker for strays. She immediately wanted to see, so we loaded up in the car and went back. Still there. I called county dispatch and reported it. They sent out a cop, and we just kinda looked at it wonderin' what to do. Finally called the Humane Society, and they sent out a Woman, who had NO idea what to do. Missus Fan took over, and we backed it up a board into the van. I told her if nobody claimed it, I wanted it.
Checked back several days later, they said I couldn't have it, as they had "found a home for it".

I just wanted bacon and chops.:D

There was a case on a patient who started to develop some sinus trouble. Years before, he had been in some kind of accident with a car. When they looked at the Xrays, they found a spark plug stuck in the sinus he was having trouble with.

I'm afraid for the pig..

I hate to think this but the 'home' they found for it was probably an incinerator or garbage dump.:(

Many years ago a dog approached me that was starved and had bad mange from nose to tail.. no fur and was shivering in the cold. That was the absolutely sweetest little dog I'd ever see and I fed him and let him sleep in my car while I was at work (on a cold day with the windows cracked) I don't remember my circumstances but at the time I couldn't keep it and certainly couldn't pay the vet bills to cure him. I decided I had to take him to the shelter and told them I was coming with a sick dog. As soon as I got in the door I could see a caretaker pulling a syringe full of stuff in a back room. I know they put the dog down immediately. Whenever I think about it I get heartsick and how much I would have loved to have that dog. I know this is off topic but I had to let it out.:(:(:( (triple sad faces)

I'm about to cry right now.

Took my wife out for dinner to a resteraunt that had valet parking. After the meal, the valet brought the car around and we discovered a pair of woman's panties in the back seat that wasn't there before. This happened a number of years ago and my wife still gives me a good natured ribbing about it.

I found a small gold anchor in one of my potted plants. I looked like it was run over a few times and was bent up. I'm thinking a Blue Jay put it there.

There is an infamous "That 70's Show" episode along those lines. I thought my Dad was going to break a rib when he saw it. Turns out HIS father had once taken him aside the day after my dad had borrowed the car and gave him a pair of panties to be returned. Trouble was dad had not taken a girl out that particular night so they must have been from an earlier excursion, but with who?:D

If you have ever played with a metal detector, you know that squadrons of aliens flew all over the earth dropping out millions of pop-top tabs. They had too, because you can dig them up in places where no man has ever been.
Closer to home, I have found bullets in lumber. Rocks grown in, up in trees and two years ago, after one of our tornadoes, I found a gun box in one of the hay fields. Gave the box to a safe vendor at the next AGCA show in case he could use it for why you want a safe.

How about things not turning up. Onboard a submarine you are in a sealed environment. As the ship's personnel officer I was responsible for all admin type supplies. I would order several gross (144) of click type government pens for the crew. The crew is 125 people. By the end of a 3 month deployment the pens would all be gone - we cleaned every day and deep cleaned (under and behind stuff) once a week and no one ever found a stray pen. I think they are with the single socks that disappear from my dryer.

It was likely carried there by a Sparrow. The question is, African or European?

Kind of related, I think...one day, I was working in the ER. We were really busy, and it was shift change. I couldn't find anyone that could give me a report, so I started going from one treatment bay, to the next getting my own report. I entered one bay, and there was a huge guy wearing a set of bib overalls, no shirt, and only one shoe. I don't know why, but I felt compelled to say: "Lose a shoe?" To which the guy said: "Nope, I found one". Ewwww!

Regards,

Dave

Was out on my boat fishing in the Chesapeake Bay years ago. I spotted what appeared to be a cap floating just under the surface. I used the gaff to get it out of the water. It turned out to be a ship ball cap from the destroyer escort had I served on twenty years before...Very strange

One of my bosses chewed us all out about not throwing trash in the 30yd container. One of the guys said to him "turn around" sea gulls were raiding the container and what they didn't want went on the ground. We all just laughed at him. Frank

I once drove through new york.

Saw another white guy in harlem........guess you can call that finding something in a strange place lol

Also one time found a handgun sewn into the mattress of a baby crib at the dump.

Also found a woman eating pizza in a asian restaurant........find weird stuff all the time haha

I remember once finding a pair of lady's nylon stockings in my dresser one day. I handed them to my girlfriend (non-live in) and the temperature dropped 50 degrees instantly. They did not belong to her! :o:D

Doctors were operating in a rather large lady with a problem in her right buttock. When they opened it up they found a pork chop bone! Can't hardly type as tears are dripping on my phone from laughter.
