We will be going there for a few days next month. Anyone familiar with the area know stuff to do there, good restaurants, etc? Can I buy beer there or should I bring my own?

One thing of interest and fun for the whole family would be to have a leech hunt. Whoever collects the most leeches wins! I never go anywhere without beer.

Bromley's in Hackensack has a great buffet / all you can eat ribs.

You can get a walleye charter out on the lake - that is fun.

Well I never heard of the place and have no clue what they have to offer in the way of entertainment or recreation. But I would definitely stay out of the lake!

If there is walleye fishing to be had I'd give that a go. That is one tasty fish when rolled in yellow cornmeal, salt and Tony C.'s

Cafe Zona Rosa and the 502 in Walker have great food. Bring or rent bikes and ride the Heartland Trail. And if all else fails there's an indian casino (Northern Lights) nearby.

Leech is a very nice lake. Don't worry about leeches but the Muskies are huge. The fishing is great and don't miss Reeds sport shop in Walker. I've picked up a number of Smith and Wesson revolvers there. Model 18, a 3" 66 and a nice M&P from 1947. It's a very nice area there. Have a good time

Great fishing lake - if you have kids and they want to swim, that is where the leeches hang out, around the docks and in shallow water. When I was a small kid we went for a weeks vacation. I like to swim and so mornings were swim time, afternoons were for leech removal (they like to get under your swimsuit). But the fishing is great - did I say that? ;)

Disregard all the "leech" comments. you might pick one up if you are digging about the bottom, but not likely on a beach... Fishing is spectacular, but can be a bit tough in the mid summer. Best bet is bass, pike and muskie at this time of year, but see what they say at Reeds, while you check out the gun selection..... As far as eats...Benson's used to be pretty good for burgers/pizza. Good luck!
